Wow. That may have been the easiest interview I've ever had. I asked him about three questions and he just talked. The kid is a living, breathing commercial for NU. They should sign him up to do voiceover for recruiting videos. You can bet he'll be recruiting for NU, too. SB Brian Kaiser and LB Khalid Jones were also visiting yesterday. Whittaker said he talked to Kaiser "for about an hour." I believe it.

I'll write a story later today but a few notes:

- He stayed overnight on Friday night in a dorm room with Riley Lees and Ben Skowronek. He said he made up his mind on his way back to the car after dinner on Friday night with Lees, Skowronek, his parents and McCall. Skowronek asked him, "So are you gonna commit here or what?" Whittaker's response was yes, so a bunch of players knew on Friday night, before Fitz did. He committed Saturday morning, before practice.

- Recruiting assistant Mike Jasinski gets credit for "discovering" his tape on social media last winter. Whittaker said Jasinski saw his tape last February and said, "I just saw our quarterback for 2018."

- Whittaker visited for the Duke game in September, so this was his second visit. He talked to Chris Bowers first in September and has been talking to Mick McCall since, so McCall is his primary recruiter.

- Whittaker visited with his parents. When he committed, his mother cried. So between his commitment and Kaiser's offer, there were a lot of tears at Nicolet yesterday.

- Fitz told him that he takes one QB per class and that Whittaker is it for this year. So I don't know if Mitchell will be in the picture going forward. If he is, it will be as an athlete, and they'll certainly have to sell Whittaker on it.
