Terrific win!

'Cats survive a...

3-point basket fest by the Who-Zits in H-1 and Collins keeps to his game plan of defending the onslaught via the 2-3 zone, which, by design, gives an opponent regular open looks from beyond the 3 arc rather than adjust to a box and one or another defensive alternative. This non-move by the 'Cat HC showed confidence in both his scheme and his players to be successful executing such a defensive game plan. Obviously CC banked on a down-to-earth projection that the Who-Zits couldn't keep their 66% 3-point shooting success throughout the entire game and it was nothing less than prophetic as the Who-Zit shooting went Oh-fer for 10 full minutes in H-2. Of course the Purple cagers had a LOT to do with the drop-off in the Who-Zit success rate and their energy level was wholly infectious. Truly an impressive "W." If this single game doesn't give the 'Cats confidence in their HC and his game plan for the remainder of the regular season and into the B1G conference tourney, nothing will.

And when was the last time NU played that entertaining a game? They not only won, they also played with tremendous intensity and confidence. It's going to be a fun stretch run. As Stephen Bardo has said, no one wants to face the Cats right now. Too bad the season isn't a couple weeks longer.

Punch for punch

Indiana didn't play that great a game, but the Cats stood with them. Wonderful free-throw shooting to seal the deal.

Easily the best game of the year to date. So glad that the last few weeks have shown us the real hope for the future.

Re: Punch for punch

They did in the first half, at least offensively. Earlier in the year, it easily could have been 40 to 24 and we would have struggled to get back in the game in the second half. Collins would have been giving his we lost in the game in the first 5 minutes speech. I didn't think we could hang with them at their tempo and we did. Very impressive.
