Up 41-24 at the start of the second half. Gonna be a challenge Monday night.
Final score: Texas 85 EWU 52
Uh-oh.
Lou, do you know if the suspended UT player is back?
Yes. Tevin Mack is not only back, he led them in scoring with 19 points last night.
In other non-conference opponent news - Rutgers beat DePaul at DePaul - not sure if that means anything or just that when two bad teams play each other someone has to win.
Texas fan here:
There were two keys for Texas to the EWU game.
First, we kept them from hitting from behind the arc. EWU was 2 of 20 for threes until the hit one over a walk on player in the last minute of the game. Our guards did a great job of defending.
Second, they could not keep up with the speed of the transition game.
Looking forward to the game on Monday.
I hope he took his frustrations out on EWU......
NU played like a team headed to the Tournament. We played like a team headed to the NIT or worse.
There are some problems with the team. We don't have a point guard, we only have 3 bigs, only 9 scholarship players available of which 4 are freshman, no starters back from last year - so we looked like what we were, not capable for the stage we were on.
I believe that you have tremendous talent though, and, with your coach, I think that you will peak at just the right time. Far better to struggle in the noncon than in conference play.
