Texas Killing EWU

In other non-conference opponent news - Rutgers beat DePaul at DePaul - not sure if that means anything or just that when two bad teams play each other someone has to win.

I would also note that Chicago State actually played UW pretty well, losing 69-51. Although only 1 badger starter played more than 20 minutes and Nigel Hayes was protesting something or other by going just 1-8 from the field. That's probably why he doesn't get paid to play BB. ;)

Texas fan here:

There were two keys for Texas to the EWU game.

First, we kept them from hitting from behind the arc. EWU was 2 of 20 for threes until the hit one over a walk on player in the last minute of the game. Our guards did a great job of defending.

Second, they could not keep up with the speed of the transition game.

Looking forward to the game on Monday.

Thanks for stopping by. I will bet that, if we go 2-20 or anything like that from 3, you will beat us as badly as you did Eastern Washington. Hoping that doesn't happen, obviously!

NU played like a team headed to the Tournament. We played like a team headed to the NIT or worse.

There are some problems with the team. We don't have a point guard, we only have 3 bigs, only 9 scholarship players available of which 4 are freshman, no starters back from last year - so we looked like what we were, not capable for the stage we were on.

I believe that you have tremendous talent though, and, with your coach, I think that you will peak at just the right time. Far better to struggle in the noncon than in conference play.

@mikewebb68

Well I hope you are correct (and I think you are likely correct).

We do have a lot of talented pieces. Unfortunately not having a real point guard and not having enough bigs is going to be a problem all year long. Next year, should be good year for Texas.
