Would NU have a legitimate shot at winning the Vegas tournament? Winning the inaugural tournament would be sort of cool. I could imagine the possibility that a Vegas Tourney could one day eclipse the CBI in notoriety maybe even grow into another NIT.
The Vegas 16 Twitter account seemed to indicate they'd be happy to have us, and I think it's a much more attractive option than the CBI. I think it will certainly be a tournament we're capable of winning or at least getting deep in.

George Raveling's bio in the selection committee press release specifically mentions Nike, but somehow I don't think the UA contract will impact NU's tourney-worthiness. It seems they're looking for 'willing to pay' and 'willing to play' more than quality of team.
In my opinion, sign us up. We might be the last non-MSU B1G team playing. (It starts the day of round of 8 games, I think.)

Stop posting that in every thread! We don't know yet if we are out of the NIT, and we won't know until Sunday night. Even if several more #1 seeds fall, they still may take Northwestern based on their 20 wins and affiliation with a Power 5 conference. I'd say that they at least have an advantage over many mid-major NIT bubble teams.
Hope all you want, I'm more than happy to make a bet on whether we make the NIT or not. It would be one I'd be happy to lose!
