The game of the year in the Big Ten will be Rutgers at Minnesota on Feb. 23. Both teams will likely be winless going in and the losing program may be the first to change coaching staffs at the end of the year. I realize Minnesota is supposed to have a good recruiting class coming in, but yesterday they looked far worse than Columbia, a team of non-scholarship, though recruited, walk-ons. Hence, here's a list of most likely Big Ten schools to change Men's basketball coaches at the end of the year:
1. Minnesota
2. Illinois
3. Rutgers
4. Northwestern (if coach K. retires)

Minnesota has been going through a total transformation and is just getting Pitino's kids into the system. Cupboard was pretty bare and even with this miserable season, he still has more wins than CCC. He probably gets one more year. Rutgers? Definitely a candidate but not sure what the situation of the coaching staff is so. IL seems like a good candidate for a chance. And Collins has not proven anything that will get him the head job at DUKE yet. I would say that IL and Rutgers are 1 and 1A. Other than that, likely have to look elsewhere. but not sure other than PSU who would be in the list. Maybe WIS as who knows what they will do when the season ends? Possibly NEB but they have been playing better. Not IA, MD, MI, OSU, MSU, IU, PU,

If Minny goes 0 for the BIG 10 (unlikely I know, but certainly not impossible having seen them play), I belieive Pitino loses his job. They have far too much talent for an abomination like that to happen.

They play Rutgers twice. Can't see them going 0-for-the Big 10. They did beat a pretty good Clemson team in the ACC-BIG Challenge. Then they lost to BOTH South Dakota teams at HOME. OUCH. I think Pitino retains his job this year but this kind of season will put tremendous pressure on him for next year. They have a big barn to fill and I noticed lots of empty seats when we played there. Keep remembering our 1-17 BIG campaign under Carmody with a late win at Michigan saving us from the 0-18 ignominy.

I'm still not sure what to think of Groce but with all the injuries I think he's back next year. And then they have to play pretty well under the new AD for Groce to keep his job. That's presuming they hire a competent AD.

That's why I believe they will not go 0 for the big. But if they did, that would mean losing to lolRutgers twice, and that would be unforgivable if I were the AD.
