The good: How incredible was the Cats' defense and toughness yesterday?!?!? How many air balls did Vandy shoot in the first half? That wasn't just nerves. They looked totally thrown off by the Cats in the first half. How many of their shots came from two steps behind the three? It was a beautiful.

More good: I don't think the Cats played anywhere near as well as they can.

The bad: The Cats looked like they were running on fumes for those last two minutes. I assume the altitude had something to do with that, but I was surprised how little CC used his bench in the second half ... seven minutes total for Skelly, Brown, Taphorn and Benson. And there was time to get those guys some minutes.

I hope CC recognizes those minutes against Gonzaga. I think he's especially going to need those fouls from Benson and Skelly. I'm also on board with getting Ash a couple minutes each half to get more consistent play off the bench at that position.

You r right! We need more Ash and Skelly! Glad we won,so I can't second guess Coach Collins! Still, I am dam sure Ash is our best defender besides Law!

Great point, Sec 112. Collins went away from his normal rotation in the second half in a way that I haven't seen him do all season, and the end result was a very, very tired team in the last 5 minutes. It ended up not costing us, but I was nervous as I kept waiting for Collins to go to his normal rotation to get folks like Law and Lindsey a few minutes of rest.

Between the fouls and his own decisions, I thought the minutes were managed in the first half. Second half was a different story. Maybe Collins thought with the modicum of rest they'd received in the first half, they'd be fine without any in the second. If so, it almost came back to bite us.

As Joe Maddon would say, we won.

I think maybe Collins wanted to try to put the game away sooner, which we were doing until Fisher-Davis got hot. He also suggested the timeouts were longer and so Mac and others were getting more time to sit and didn't need as much in-game rest.
