I talked to four-star running back Jirehl Brock from Quincy (Ill.) tonight to find out why NU hasn’t offered him yet.
First of all, he’s a byproduct of NU hiring Coach Lou Ayeni. Ayeni was recruiting him at Iowa State and they built what Brock called a great relationship. Ayeni took the NU job and immediately started recruiting him again (he first heard from NU last spring but then things cooled off). Ayeni told Brock that he wants him at NU, so maybe they want to get him on campus and meet Fitz before offering.
It could also be because NU is waiting on a test score. Brock has taken the SAT but doesn’t have his score yet. He has a 3.0 GPA, which is kinda borderline, so NU may want to wait for that score to bolster his case before submitting him to admissions. Brock isn’t sure. I reached out to a source but haven’t heard back yet.
Brock is visiting on April 14 for the Cats’ final spring practice. It will be his first time on campus.
