Big time props to the NU secondary, which has had as many solid contributors as any unit this season. With McGee and Williams out, and Hartage leaving the game with injury, so many guys stepped up. Just in the last few weeks, Whillock, Mayo, Ruiz, and Campbell have gotten significant playing time and played well. Whillock especially has been excellent in coverage and looks like he will be the starter for the next few years if he can stay healthy.

Fantastic stuff from this group. Want all of them healthy on December 1st and beyond, but good to know we have some nice depth back there with guys that have now been battle tested and succeeded.

Agreed! Hope we get everyone healthy for Michigan!

Kudos to Matty Mac for having them ready to go.

Ruiz looked much more comfortable last week. Thought he played well for his first start.

Actually the top 4 of 5 were out by the end of the Io_a game -- Hartage, Newsome, McGee, and Williams. Ruiz, Mayo, Campbell all stepped up at the corners, and Whillock is playing outstanding at safety next to Pace.

Another guy who is MIA is Bullock. He's been injured quite a lot since burning his shirt as a true frosh. Wonder if his career is in jeopardy from his injuries?

He has played a handful of snaps in a reserve role.

While I appreciate the plaudits as well-deserved, I still worry about Mayo in coverage. Until Newsome or Hartage return, we have to come up with defensive schemes to keep him from having to go one-on-one.
