The West Region is the brains bracket

Troll level: expert. Unless you actually went to WVU... :)

Don't sleep on West Virginia.

West Virginia (the state) hosts The National Youth Science Camp each year where the top science students from each state attend. The university through its faculty is intrinsically involved. Each of us who have attended over the past five plus decades have become honorary citizens of West Virginia (assuming they still do that) so that arguably elevates WVU to at least Notre Dame's status. :)

Nigel Williams - Goss transferred to Gonzaga from Washington and he told Mark Few he wanted to be Few's 3rd member of the "Bill Walton Double-Double" club. That's First Team (Top 5) Academic All American and First Team (Top 5) AP All American.

Dan Dickau and Kelly Olynyk did it. Walton did it 3 times. Williams-Goss made first team (Top 5) Academic All American last week. AP hasn't announced their team yet ... but Nigel is about 50/50 between 1st team and 2nd team (Top 10) in the All American teams announced to date.

Add to that Gonzaga's rank as #1 in D1 academics (APR success) among athletics (followed by Lafayette and Dartmouth) which to me means that GU deserves to be "in the conversation". Edited to add ... Northwestern is 9th (sandwiched between Davidson and Duke).
