I was going to introduce the concept that a) of course Northwestern can’t stop the run, but b) at least Purdue can’t run.

However, Purdue’s lead back, Mockobee, is at 5.0ypc this year, and ground out 100 yards on 28 carries against Illinois last week.

Saturday looks like 30s and partly cloudy, no precipitation. So we won’t have the 12th man on defense.

And NU doesn’t make plays in the return game.

And Purdue has a shot at the West after last week’s upset of Illinois.

So, yes, I think NU has a great chance for victory.

I would like us to win these two last games, however, methinks a win in one of these games (especially if it's for the HAT) will allow Fitz to go all Dr Pangloss and maintain that " Everything. Is best in this best of all possible worlds," And do nothing moving forward.

Sounds like Mockabee is another 200 yard runner

Rest easy my friend, we are not going to win either of the last 2 games.

Ye of little faith! Sit back, drink a Yuengling, and lift your spirits.

I think we have enough talent and pride to win one of these last two. And I think we’re more likely to beat Purdoodoo than Illannoy.

We arguably have as much NFL talent as Purdue, if not more.

Hope you're right, but not counting on it.

Purdue is a very inconsistent team, but they win (in my opinion) because of their coaching, which is one front they clearly have us beaten on. Brohm is an excellent gameday coach.

I actually agree with this. Purdue is a very inconsistent team, but I think Brohm is a superior gameday coach to Fitz (it's not even close) - that's what's gotten PU some good wins, but the on the field talent is probably why they lost the other ones.

What Purdue has is a former walk-on qb who played hs football not too far from NU. He is probably less talented than RH but is likely headed to the NFL. We are not developing our talent on either side of the ball. I'll watch the game, of course, but am on the west coast so too early for the single malt I'll need to get through it. GO CATS

One Boiler receiver, three yards from the goal line, two Wildcats nearby, another Wildcat approaching rapidly after having tripped.

End result?

Boiler receiver scores, winding up in the end zone, untouched. Two Wildcats end up on the ground, having taken each other out of the play. The third Wildcat merely observes.

A game summary, in one play.

May this the remainder of this season please pass quickly.
