Will try to convince my daughters to go. Anyone else heading out there?

Well, we certainly didn't win, but didn't get blown out. In fact, I felt that we were certainly capable of beating this supposedly invincible Maryland team.

Tthey're not invincible nor are they supposedly invincible.

UCONN on the other hand .....

I did actually make it down to the SC. We actually led for most of the first half and were playing terrifically until the bottom fell out late in the first half. Does anybody know why our band and cheerleaders didn't show up until almost halftime?

It bothered me that out of the 4 teams playing there that night, we had the smallest fan attendance even though we are basically right down the road.

The band and cheerleaders (and some of the student attendees) were late because there was a miscommunication between Northwestern Athletics and the bus company. I managed to get to the game on time by carpooling with some other would-be bus riders.

ECat: The women's B1G tourney..

One of the most disgusting games to watch I have ever experienced. We gave up 21 offensive rebounds. 21!!! At one point I yelled "let them score, it's the only way we'll get the ball back!" MD is an elite women's team no doubt, but if we don't fix this rebounding problem we will never beat the very top teams.

Doc, I love you but...

Doc: Allow me to suggest that you were unbelievably more forgiving of defensive rebounding problems previously. Your passion for the 'Cats is awesome. And, Coach Carmody represents all that should be good in college basketball. But, I don't remember you screaming the same thing at the board as we finished:

11th, 11th, 9th, 11th, 11th, 11th, 11th, 10th, 10th, 12th and 12th (2003-2013) in defensive rebounding in conference play.

Or, to put a finer point on it...we all watched on February 29, 2012...we were as close to the doorstep as we have ever been. A victory over highly regarded OSU would move us to 8-9 in the B1G. The game was at home. Despite great shooting, we lost 75-73. How to put the finger on the loss? Perhaps the fact that OSU picked up 20 offensive rebounds to our 12 defensive rebounds.

What you call a disgusting game, I called a great effort by a thin 'Cats squad. Go get 'em, Coach Joe! Good luck in the NCAA's!

We were a horrendous rebounding team under Carmody. I actually did point it out many times but my unwavering support of him has erased this from most memories. It was a serious problem. Playing so much zone probably had a lot to do with it. The WBB team plays a lot of zone as well.

I don't know if you were at the game last night or not. I can tell you that I was far from the only one who was "disgusted" by the game. Lots of sullen faces wearing purple. Except for the first 10 minutes of the game, it was an extremely uninspired performance by the cats.

Don't know if you saw the BTN Maggie Lyon interview of Ashley Deary after the Rutgers win, but when Maggie asked Ashley what the key to the MD game would be she replied, "No question, rebounding." So this was clearly a focal point of the game plan. The lack of execution by allowing 21 offensive rebounds was telling. As I said, WBB has a few teams that are elite and far beyond all the other. MD is one of them. I wasn't expecting a win, but I was disappointed in the way we lost.

Re: Doc, I love you but...

What's going on here? Are you guys just trying to beat DCF down to the point that he quits the board and never comes back?

Re: Doc, I love you but...

It was going to end this way, I guess.

I dunno what a men's basketball coach who was fired two years ago has to do with a women's basketball game in 2015, but there you have it.

I think this critique is fair (and I think DocCatsFan would say so as well). Others around here just want to grind their axe with Doc whenever they can and do so through personal attacks.
