Come on folks! Get jacked up and get ready for a party this fall when the Cats football team "Rocks The House"! We have two mobile QBs and a lights out running back with AA potential in Jackson. Our defense will be salty like last year. I'm calling for at least a nine win season. Give me a roar! Belch! Arghh! Whatever? To know you are alive and kicking! Cats are back and ready to kick butt! I wish you could have seen our two wrestlers,Mike McMullan and Jason Trirtsis win Big Ten Titles last weekend! I had not had that much fun since I chopped up my ADHD medicine , Adoral as a teen, and gave it to my two Pit Bulls. Those dogs nearly ripped each other's head's off. I had to spend two months at the St. Charles Lock up for troubled kids over that stint. That was the easiest time I ever did! Come on! Let's Get This Party Started!

Sheesh, I did a LOT worse stuff than that as a kid and I never went to Charlietown. Came damn close, though.

A 9 win season is a possibility

Roni, admittedly, the board has been dead until LouV started updating us with interesting information/interviews with recruits.

Like you, I think our team will be good this year, assuming Thorson is developed and functionable at QB.

The schedule sets up nice for us. We don't play the two best teams, OSU or MSU. Plus the 3 teams that are 'closer to us' in competition, i.e., PSU, Iowa, Minny are all at home. Our away games at Wisconsin and Nebraska, we would be significant underdogs to anyways, home or away. Illinois is away but with the game at Soldier field, it will be neutral and imo determine a good bowl game for each school. It will be a helluva game this year.

And although I like our defense, we are thin at LB and DL if there are any injuries.

Special teams should REALLY be special this year. Mitchell established himself and his confidence, and God only knows how good Vault, Anderson, or that new kid will be returning kicks. WHoever it is, we are going to have a SOLID return man.
Vault was awesome last year prior to his hamstring issues.

My biggest concern is once again the OL and WR. IMO, it has everything to do with coaching. The OL doesn't ever seem to develop strength, or the proper communication to recognize stunts, etc. If it continues this normal practice, then we will once again be utilizing 2 or 3 QB's as a result of attrition.

With Springer as our wr coach, our wr have steadily underperformed. Maybe Tommy Rees or Christian Jones can work with the wide outs and stand in the deficient coaching gap. In simple terms, our wide outs have no idea how to read and do routes, much less catch the ball. That said, Springer has had more talent playing for him than any coach in NU history.
This year will be no exception. Having Christian Jones and Vitale give a strong baseline presence with this unit. Having younger Dickerson at your disposal is huge as well. All of these guys are Big Ten First team studs if coached right.

Shuler doesn't have it. He has brick hands, and has absolutely no wiggle at all. He doesn't full any DB. Next
Cam Dickerson has potential if he can hang on to the ball. Tossing the ball to him last year created at least 20-30 drops as he had to catch the ball on his helmet or chest due to his broken wrist. He blocks great though.

PYA is a fair bullpen type player but shouldn't get extensive minutes.

Watching Young Nagle, I must conclude, he has potential to start or play significantly along with Anderson, Vault.

I'm not convinced of Scanlan or McHugh. Just seem like a waste who aren't good enough to separate themselves from the other wide outs I mentioned. McHugh may be another bull pen guy who comes in from time to time for rest periods.

It's what happens when we are locked out of spring practice and the BB team has been some what interesting in recent weeks.

True. IMO, it's appalling that Fitz locks us out of spring, and is so paranoid he really doesn't even bother with a spring game. Not sure what other BIG program does this. Then he wonders why fair weather fans don't bother. he reminds me of the previous owner of the blackhawks. God forbid we watch the blackhawks on TV.

The more someone sees something, the better the chance that the person grows to like it. Mostly, we like what we see everyday. Fitz' policing of the program is like an overbearing father. Hey, as long as he is winning, great, but he has to be willing to take the heat when we see a shitty product and can't see for our own eyes how they practice. Until then, the only references we get to practice are watermelon contest winners, etc. Disappointing indeed.

Seriously? People get yelled down for criticizing players and you come with this kind of crap?

Closed practices (or at least access limited to warm-up's and/or the first couple of periods) are standard practice across the country. For instance, Ohio State only allows access for the first hour of practice.

Hungry Jack: "It's not so much cardiac arrest as bipolar disorder."

And now that we're back to full strength, we can realize our full potential.

wrassler,

Glad to have you back! Never again should you be intimidated by some of the unofficial self-declared board police, who are mostly intolerable jerks.
Tsirtsis and McMullen were terrific, and should be right in the hunt for a national title. (I'm a huge wrestling fan even though I never competed in the sport.)
Do you know anything yet about the incoming class? Also, are most of the great freshmen going to red-shirt? Micic, Brill and Sebastian are of particular interest.
You go wrassler.

Congrats Turk!

This has to be the most negative, personally-insulting post of the year! It's wonderful that you posted this gem.

Thanks No chores, everything is going great! Those nazis jump all over posters on here if you show weakness! Don't ever be intimidated by them, they know who they are! Us rabid cat fans haveto persevere through some adversity and that is cool. Those three frosh are very, very solid. We will be better next year,I think. Our Hwt is pretty solid and is redshirting also. I'm a fan of all NU Sports. Stay in touch, and don't,as Gladescat will tell you, worry about guys that ever strapped it on!

I'm glad you're back, never though you often make no sense.

Re: Congrats Turk!

I don't see it as negative. It's positive. Most of it is really positive. Then the rest is only an assessment of where we are. I can see you reviewing it as negative, but it's only an assessment based on evidence. Evidence is neither positive or negative.

The comments about certain players were WAY overly negative, as if made out of spite! Dickerson had some drops, but he did NOT have "at least 20-30 drops"! Scanlon and McHugh are NOT "total wastes". They are underclassmen who certainly can improve...much like Prater and Markshausen. Shuler can also improve his "brick hands" and "absolutely no wiggle". You also have no clue whether Springer is the reason for our WR problems. It's just negative crap that you (and others) essentially make up.

With all the spiteful comments you make about our players and coaches, it's no wonder the team doesn't like you. It's too bad players have to be holy-rollers for you to treat them with decency.

BA HA HA HA HA!!!!! Good one!

If Fitz wants to lock out practice that is fine with me. I was just saying that is part of why the board is dead because there is less news. No news creates no news cycle
