Not the basketball, but 'fans' on this board. Not the end of the world. You didn't lose, the team did. They will win again, will you?

Exactly. I hated the loss obviously, but there are things in life that are far more important than us losing to Rutgers. And, to be honest, I am happy for Rutgers; they have played hard a lot with virtually nothing to show for it. Nice for them to finally get a win after a long losing streak.

Now if we lost to Illinois....

I agree to the extent that this is like me getting angry at a Sox loss to a bad team in August when they are 20 games out of first.

IMHO, there have been many worse nights on this board than this one, at least based on what I've read so far. Maybe I missed a thread or two (on ignore).

At the very least, this pales in comparison to what I read on the football board this past year and that team went 10-3, finished second in the division, and won a bowl game.

If the gods are smiling, Fitz, that's not something we'll be seeing for years to come.

For sure, but it's the ongoing complaining (not constructive criticism) that gets old fast--seriously, suggesting NU should be looking for a new coach?

Yep, any suggestion that NU should be looking for any new BB coaches is just plain stupid. They just gave an extension to the head coach through 2025, which was reported at the time to be impossible financially for either side to break. It is the prerogative of people on a free message board to bitch and moan all they want, but suggesting a coaching change just demonstrates their stupidity.

Not a great year, but not a bad year if the Cats can win a couple more conference games.

NU's basketball reality will be totally different when they return to Welsh Ryan next year.

If there are quibbles with coaching this year it's only noticeable because there was so little to critique in the last couple of years. NU coaching has been excellent for a long, long time.

Recruiting has been outstanding. We can say again this offseason that the coming year will have the best talent since the 1960's. How they'll gell, we don't know.

Expectations were unrealistic. And we have a couple posters here who ignored the great success of last year and have a solitary objective of trashing anything that CCC says or does.

But the positives so vastly outweighs the negatives for this program at this point in time it's ridiculous.

My greatest worry is that NU is a lot tougher of an environment in which to succeed. How tough is it to every night look at opposing conference players and know you can't even recruit them. My hope is that Collins retains his optimism that he can continue to overcome those institutional obstacles.

Not the wins NU hoped for, but the last three years and the new WR should be enough to avoid any recruiting setback.

Wholeheartedly agree, though let's remember it's a Northwestern board - not a lot of stupidity to go around. Ill-formed opinions, yes. Would stop short of calling it stupidity, but then, what do I know? As a non-NU grad, I'm kinda in over my head here to begin with. :D
