In one game, it seems to me that Thorson has great, great speed, but limited elusiveness. The TD came on a one-cut, head-to-the-house designed draw play. But I don't think I saw great moves, necessarily.

He's bigger than most elusive runners (Colter and Persa definitely, probably right around the size of Kafka), and his running is definitely a step up from Bacher or Siemian, but i don't think we'll see much 'whoa, go get your jock strap' from him.

The best running style comparison from the spread era is probably Kustok, who gained his yards straight ahead and in the still-new read option. I think the defense's approach to CT will be closer to 'can't forget about him' than 'we gotta shut him down.'

I thought he was more like Kafka, but don't remember Kustok as well. If you give Thorson or Kafka a lane, he can take off, but it's the scatback that can also throw like Colter was.

In two games it seems to me that Thorson has great, great speed, as well as a good deal of elusiveness. His Stanford TD came on a one-cut, head-to-the-house designed draw play while he exhibited some terrific cut back running on his EIU score..it was nice to see some great moves from Thorson today. Let's hope for more of the same vs. Duke.
