Three pointers: Wildcats fall to UNC

May I most humbly and respectfully suggest a small change in terminology. Could you please replace "pointers" with "keys" at least for your basketball game commentaries?
I suppose you know the reason. In the context of basketball, it's a bit ambiguous, or funny to say "three- pointers" meaning "three keys or indicators" (how many 3-pointers made McIntosh?). At least you would be advised to remark "no pun intended" at a suitable place. Thanks.

It's the hyphen that muddies the waters here. Usage of the hyphen suggests that there can be any number of three-pointers. Without the hyphen, the noun becomes pointers, modified by the adjective three. With the hyphen, the object is three-pointers, with no modifier.

Also, the lack of conversation about this game, in which Northwestern was reasonably competitive with a top 10 team, strongly indicates the basketball season doesn't begin until January.

Have you never read a news title in your life? They frequently use double meaning or a play on words to attract attention. It is much older than the internet.

A team has to be great in some area of the game against a team like NC that is guaranteed to destroy you on the boards. NC destroyed NU on the boards. NC was efficient in their offense and had a very nice assist to turnover ration. NC also shot above 80% from the line.

NU wasn't going to out rebound NC but the Cats were sloppy with the ball when it mattered. And the Cats didn't hit shots other than a couple spurts in the first half. And at times the defense had big holes at times.

Olah was 4 of 6 or something like that, but his touches were once again a rarity. If the guards can't pass into the post it makes sense to have JVZ in there to defend against NC's athletic bigs. B Mac's on the run dribble drive bounce pass into Olah that went out of bounds without Olah touching was typical. Or the numerous alley oops thrown into the rafters for JVZ. Here's hoping they get this figured out before conference.

Collins said that he's really proud of his team for how they fought but I think he was disappointed a couple guys didn't step up more. This can be a very good team if get their sh_t together.
