I'm actually a little torn. As hilarious as it is to fire your head coach a week before your opener (and I hardly ever miss an opportunity to laugh at the Pumpkinheads), Beckman was very good for business in Evanston.

Plus Cubit is probably the better head coach anyway, so it might end up working out OK for the Illini.

So? He lost the previous 2 years and has been absolutely shattered by Fitz in in-state recruiting, including for our starting quarterback and running back this coming year.

We lost last year, but that doesn't mean Beckman wasn't a bumbling fool who was good for NU short and long term.
