ESPN has a good profile on Evbuomwon and it says that he chose Princeton over Northwestern and Stanford. It sounds like he will pursue a professional career but, if he stays in college, I think he’ll have to transfer because of the Ivy League policy prohibiting grad students from playing. If he’s in the portal, I imagine he’ll be offered by everyone.

Evbuomwon missed the 2020- 2021 season, could he claim that as a redshirt year and still claim a Covid year, giving him 2 years of eligibility?

Not logical (especially in the current environment) but the policy is that grad students can’t play in the Ivy League.

Do we know if NU (or Stanford) offered him originally? Would be admirable if he chose Princeton over a free ride to NU or Stanford but I was thinking maybe PWO? He’s playing a heck of a game tonight again, great first half.

The top Ivies have such good financial aid that many families end up paying close to nothing.

Why punish players for graduating? Players who graduate with a year of eligibility remaining show the type of dedication to academics that the Ivies should be celebrating.
The Ivy League is non-schollie, they do what they want

Simmons hit the portal to late. Any school he went to he would have had to sit a year. That why it was silly what they did.

Carey Booth is available again. Freshmen that was going to Penn St. Had a bunch of high academic offers.

Carey Booth is currently at prep school, and is seeking his NLI release after Shrewsberry left. Different scenario.

Sorry, he was going to be a freshman and asked for release he is brewster academy currently.

Brewset just lost to putnam science at the prep tournament.. Barkely js at putname science and should be signing his letter jn april

I can relate to these type of posts.

Is Barkley very good?
Barkley is an interesting player. He plays on a team that has more size and D1 players then some D1 programs. He definitely has skill but it is easy to see how he could get lost in the crowd on that team. In many ways, he is the prototypical Collins player and is comparable to Beran and Martinelli. Like Martinelli was supposed to be, he could be a redshirt candidate but with 6 scholarship players right now, NU needs all the bodies they can find.

I am going to say this out loud, while it is possible that all will work out for Collins in the next few weeks, it is insane that NU currently has 6 players who - for the moment - are committed to play next year - Barnhizer, Nicholoson, Berry, Martinelli, Hunger (missed most of season), plus two freshman who are signed.

Given NU admissions, I feel the need to post the following:

There are over 1,000 players in the transfer portal. Relax.

I tend to reflexively want to agree with you and this argument (partly because I love relaxing), but if I remember you also advised relaxing about people freaking out about football transfers this year, and I’m starting not to relax when I look at the state of our defensive line, and the transfers we haven’t yet brought it. On the football side, are we allowed to panic yet?

With that said, I tend to agree that we will get a hoops transfer or two that will help.

Read Lou’s interview with Braun on the Rock.

I did. I get the sense that Braun is also panicking at the depth and talent on the d line. I know he’s
hoping to fix it with the portal, but I’m not sure I’m as optimistic as you are about the likelihood of that happening.

There will be options during the Spring transfer period. Hopefully they will be more impactful than some of our recent additions.

Not sure where Cornell is in that ranking, but what we heard from the coach was that plenty of money is available for players of low-income families but they don't do well with middle-class players.
