Big Ten Bubble Burst
Michigan and Wisconsin failed to make the tournament as expected, but Rutgers' bubble was burst. Rutgers was the 2nd team behind Oklahoma State that did not get selected. Rutgers lost one game to Ohio State where Ohio State hit a buzzer beater to win the game but that on the play sequence, the player who hit the shot had gone out of bounds but was "illegally" the first player to touch the ball when it was in-bounded. Could Rutgers be out because of this missed call at the end of the game?
Pete Nance Misses NCAA Tournament While Northwestern Makes It
Pete Nance transferred from Northwestern to more prestigious basketball school North Carolina. Before the season, it would have been a reasonable to bet that Pete Nance would get a chance to play in the Big Dance. Unfortunately, Nance won't get the chance. But the other side of the coin to ponder is: Would Northwestern have made the NCAA tournament if Nance had stayed at Northwestern for the 2022-23 season? Would Nance have helped 2022-23 Northwestern more towards possibly winning the Big Ten over Purdue or would he have affected this year's team chemistry in a way that Northwestern might have missed the tournament again?
Seth Davis Geography Snafu on Tourney Show: Kansas City, ??
When questioning the tourney committee chairman after selections were announced on CBS tourney selection show about why Houston was picked over Kansas for the #2 overall seed, Davis chided the chairperson about the committee's pick. Davis mentioned that Houston did not deserve to be the #2 overall seed over Kansas and as a result Kansas has to go through the Las Vegas regional instead of the Kansas City regional which is bummer for Kansas because "Kansas City is in Kansas." Yes, "Kansas City" is close to the University of Kansas and there is a Kansas City in Kansas. However, the Kansas City that is more familiar to the sports world is the much larger Kansas City that is across the river in Missouri where the NCAA Midwest regional finals will be held at the T-Mobile Center.
