Came in for the Broncos in the 4th quarter, had 7 for 10 completions and threw for the winning touchdown in last 2 minutes of a low scoring game. Denver 14, Houston 10.

From what I could tell on tv, he was composed and competent.

I watched the 4th quarter, and Trevor looked really sharp. One slight overthrow on a pass into the endzone, but then he recovered nicely and threw what ended up being the game winning TD pass. Looked like a poised QB with a strong and accurate arm.

Also, Wildcat Willie, as a follow up to the discussion we had last week about game watching parties in Houston, I don't think a spot has been located yet for this season. The place we went a few years ago (Beck's Prime) is out of business, as is the sports bar on Eldridge we went to before that. It's tough if not impossible to find somewhere where we can be guaranteed audio and which is kid-friendly. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

I wonder if his NFL-level fans will be able to spell his name right.

Well maybe he can at least join McManus and Wooten as former NU players with frequently misspelled names who find success in the NFL....

Speaking of Trevor, a brief reading of the Denver news and the fan comments (for what they're worth) show some good buzz about his performance. Trevor played for nearly the entire fourth quarter last night, while the fourth QB on the roster (Dysert) didn't play at all. Looks like Trevor may make the squad as the third-string QB, and many of the fan comments (again, for what they're worth) are speculating that he may eventually replace Osweiler as the backup. One game at a time, but he did look good last night.

You're right, of course. I knew better but didn't type better. My own name is misspelled often enough to make me sensitive to that ordinarily.

Think Siemian did more than not hurt himself - he may very well have worked his way onto the 53 man roster as it might be too risky for the Broncos to try to stash TS on the PS.

Last week, Siemian was getting 3rd QB snaps - which normally would be no big deal as he and Dysert would switch off, but TS got 3rd QB snaps on consecutive days which foreshadowed TS getting the 4th Q action and not Dysert.

Bronco fans have been most impressed by Siemian's arm, footwork, poise and decision-making/ability to get rid of the ball quickly.

In particular, were impressed by TS getting the TE in proper position (TE was lined up on the wrong side) and then hitting the TE on a 20 yd seam route.

Also, on that pass to the endzone prior to the TD, it hit the receiver in the hands but he didn't look back for the ball (which also prevented a possible PI call).

And for the 1st pre-season game against the Seahawks, there is an interesting breakdown of the play where TS threw it too high for his receiver in the endzone where a poster stated that it was the correct throw (basically throwing it away or making sure only his receiver would have a chance).

Against the Texans, in a similar play and defensive scheme, Osweiler ended up throwing to the wrong spot (not seeing the LB near the throwing lane as another defender was coming at him) which resulted in a pick 6.

Siemian apparently recognized that and not having time to see if the receiver in the endzone was open, took the safe route and basically threw it away.

The Broncos-fan Siemian band-wagon is growing; there are a good no. who think Siemian shows more promise than Osweiler in taking the reigns over from Manning.

Of course, any such talk is WAY too early (some of it based on whether Osweiler warrants a big contract as the heir-apparent), and follows the dictate that the most popular QB is often the back-up (or in this case, the back-up to the back-up).

As an aside, there are Broncos fans not too happy with Peyton's performance - 4 drives w/ not much to show.

But things would have looked a good bit better for Manning if a couple of 3rd down conversions hadn't been dropped and other drives stopped by penalties (hmmm - sounds familiar).
