(1) That SIU was 0-2, having surrendered 98 points in their previous losses to no-name teams.

(2) That SIU absolutely manhandled NU at the line of scrimmage.

(3) That the better/better
team won today.

Astounding stuff…and yet the vibe in the (totally dead) stands was more resignation than anger. But hey: Welcome to NU football, freshmen! Consider yourselves duly baptized/hazed. Sigh. I’m once again updating my expectations for the season for the third time already!

I expected 3-9 or 2-10, but got my hopes up after Dublin. Back to reality. Bad team, poorly coached

I didn’t sense any surprise in the stands. The team with the better coaches and players won. But NU had really nice air conditioning on the sideline.

The saddest part about this post was another year of potential NU fans being turned away for life.

Seriously. If you were 18 or 19 and gave up your Saturday for that shitburger of a game, would you ever go back?

We could have lost by a lot more, we are lucky it was 7. Fitz was outclassed by SIU, I hope this one makes him to rethink the whole program.

It won’t. Just like Illinois State didn’t.

Stay the course! Maybe we’ll knock off OSU to offset that shitburger of a game.

Wow, just 😳. We theoretically can go winless the rest of the way. This is what Fitz gets for not hiring innovative coordinators and sticking with mediocre coaches. Is he scared of being exposed as being not so great that he hires mediocrity? The capacity of the new stadium is what? Only 26,000? Shoot they might never get a full house unless the staff gets it's act together. Pretty sad. People are going to be nostalgic to for the McCall days very soon.

We are looking at a one win team.
