Um... I don't think Texas is very good

Watching a few minutes of the consolation game right now and Texas just.... looks... bad. They struggle to score. They are skinny and getting pushed around. Haven't seen their press at all yet. Its still the first half, so maybe they'll figure some things out, but right now they look bad. Down 20-14 early.

They are now down double digits. I want to feel good about our win last night. Maybe I should stop paying attention.

Texas, for the most part, just looks like they are going through the motions.

That's what I was thinking too. Texas just doesn't play that hard. I was thinking the same thing last night. I know we were happy with how we broke the press, but Texas didn't display much energy on that press. It wasn't HAVOC by any means. Oh well...... still happy we won and maybe the thing to focus on is that we won going away, which a good team should do against Texas.

That's why I was surprised when somebody said they looked like a top 10 team.

When a team looks bad, it's often a combination of not playing well and their opponent playing well enough to help make them LOOK bad. That's what I believe happened last night.

I'll still take it as a signature win, against a ranked opponent.

OK.... now I'm feeling better. Texas finally decided to use their press and Colorado doesn't look nearly as good against it as we did. Colorado lead is down to 3.

Back up to 12 pt Buff lead
Texas just doesn't have any shooters. I think they've made less than 10% of their three point attempts. Really awful. On the other hand, I think we could hang with Colorado just fine. Tonight will be interesting.

Well.... we beat Texas by 18. Colorado beat them by 14. Colorado lost to ND by 6, so that means we may lose another heartbreaker tonight..... if you believe the math.

Awfully hard to come back after getting blown out the night before. Could be we took the fight out of them.

True.. plus they were down a key player due to his cheap shot on Isaiah last night.

I was catching up on the board and just noticed this. Nice.

Well, I don't know if Texas is any good but I just watched MSU play St. John's at the Atlantis tournament and I can give a little scouting report:

These MSU freshmen Bridges and Ward are INSANE! Ward is a beast inside and Bridges plays like a slightly smaller LeBron and just has it all. His spin move is crazy good... I'm pretty sure he gets faster as he goes. He controlled the game from start to finish.

And we simply have no answer for Ward inside. Reminds me of Darryl Dawkins.

Minnesota and Rutgers look much improved this year, the Big Ten season will be a beast.

Jury is still out, imo, whether lolRutgers is improved, though their could not get much worse than last year. They have had one of the weakest schedules in the country thus far,, playing no one with a KenPom over 185. And I couldn't stomach watching them play DePaul for more than a few minutes, the quality of basketball was just that bad....

MSU looked very ordinary against a good Baylor team today. From my observation so far, the BIG's lower echelon teams are better but the top teams have come back to the pack a little bit. There is an opportunity here for the Cats if they protect home court and win the close ones. But so far, the second part hasn't gone very well! Wake Forest is a big game for this team after the failure to close out against Butler and ND.

MSU plays a very tough schedule and starts out slow every year and then Izzo gets the team rolling and is hot every year in February. MSU has a lottery pick in Miles Bridges. Top tier in Big 10 is 1. IU, 2. UW, 3. MSU and 4. PU Middle Tier (5-9) is up for grabs between UM, OSU, NU, Iowa and Illinois. Bottom Tier is Rutgers, UNL, Minny (Amir Coffey is Nia's brother and lighting it up) and PSU.

NU needs Falzon to get healthy and McIntosh not to go 3-18 v. ND or turn it over 5 times and play hero ball like he did v. Butler and we are looking at a 5-0.

The jury is no longer out of lolRutgers. Unless they improve, they will still not be competitive in the BIG. Don't be fooled by the 6-0 start; they have played no one with a pulse, and needed an improbable comeback to beat KenPom #311 and America East bottom-feeder Hartford today. Well, maybe not so improbably because Hartford is, well, Hartford.....
