Have to say, the uniform combo yesterday may be my all time favorite road combo. I was disappointed with the white helmet the last two years, as the 'N' looked too big or something. Same with the black helmet with the 'N' worn a few times, including the Gator Bowl. The 'N' is/appears bigger in those instances than the traditional purple helmet with the white 'N' and doesn't look as clean to me.
But just as I loved the Cat head in silver on the black helmet, and all black unis worn against Nebraska in 2012, this version in all white, with the purple Cat/black head was just as sharp. Look also is helped by having the white cleats instead of the black cleats/tape we wore a couple of times when we wore all white in the past.
I know all the purists out there, who hope for NU to have the traditional uniform swag of Michigan or other storied programs, hate these unis and want us to say the same week after week after week. But we don't have that tradition, and changing it up a lot is far more interesting to new/young fans. I watch my son play Madden, and before it was discontinued, NCAA football on Xbox, and every game, he and his friends have a different uniform combination on their teams. Also, listening to a bunch of 11 year olds last night playing basketball in my driveway after watching a ton of games all day, and the conversation turned to uniforms more times than I could even count. Being new, different and creative with your uniforms is the way of the world now and I am thrilled to see NU all over it.
