Down early and playing kind of sloppy it sounds like. Need to get focused.

SO disappointed that this is not on Big 10 channel - Apparently, they do not have the extra channels during basketball as they do for football. so, I will just be watching the score and hope we start to pull away - should win big in this game!!

This is crap. We're now down by double digits against pathetic Houston Baptist. Why can't we ever have nice things at NU???

What is wrong with McIntosh? I mean, in this game it's the team, but Bryant just isn't playing the way we've seen him play. Can still hit the key shot, but he really seems to be struggling.

Just ugly. They better wake up or they'll ruin their season in one stupid night.

At halftime . The cats just seem to be a step slow . Houston Baptist shot over 50% from the field in the first half , our wildcat shot under 30% . When we set up for the last shot of the half , Macintosh skipped a wide open three for the assassin and went into the paint and missed his floater in a crowd . I think Macintosh is zero for five in the first half. Really disappointed at halftime!

Lots of HB fouls early in second half. If Cats shoot well from line they should be ok.

This game is ugly as wrassler's comfy couch. NU has flipped the script from the last few games and is trying to outscore their opponents by 20 in the second half instead of the first half.

NU -10 points in the first half, +19 points in the second to pull out the win. Hope they got all this bad stuff out of their system before the Big 10 season starts on Tuesday.

Yep. Beat 'em by 19 in the second.

Of course it would be nice to see the action, but with Dave and Joey doing the broadcast on WGN, streaming live to my phone, I think I got as good a “picture” as if I were watching on TV with a couple of numbskulls providing the commentary. I took the dogs out for a nice wintery walk at halftime and listened to the whole second half without a moment’s distraction.

In my 70’s, remembering what it USED to be like decades ago to try and get even radio coverage of games I was interested in away from a metro area ... I am still blown away and grateful (and spoiled!) regarding what technology has done in my lifetime.

Here is the contrast: As a youthful Cubs fan, my parents had a lake cottage in the North of Wisconsin. I would get up in the rafters so my little radio was against the copper tubing of the gas line and could usually get a static-distorted play-by-play of the Cubs playing a night road game. Fast forward a few decades. On a World War II tour of Europe, sitting on a balcony of a German hotel, with a band playing in a park close enough to hear them, my laptop brought Ron Santo and Pat Hughes describing the action as clearly as if I were with them in the press box. Amazing.

For those of us who were there:

Jeez could that little girl scream! I'm not even mad – that was amazing.

A single scream is actually a pretty good way to distract a shooter.

OSU is struggling with Asheville. Michigan barely beat Furman. We did more than enough in the second half to win, and I'm confident that a fresher team won't shoot 30% from the field very often.

I think I heard her on the audio stream!
She DOMINATED the audio stream in terms of crowd noise. Not that she had much competition from the assemblage, though. At times while listening I had the impression there were maybe a couple dozen people in the gym, chattering in the background and offering up an occasional cheer, all outdone by ONE fanatic girl with her ongoing scream.

Was there an actual crowd, or was it (like it sounded) a smattering of people here and there who just wanted to escape from their houses and hang out?

Studio audience only. Even Dave and Joey weren't actually there.

I was actually surprised by the crowd. It was mostly community groups and non-STHs, but it beat my expectations given that this was the final non-conference game on a Thursday night just before the holidays. But yes, the crowd was dead for most of the game with the HBU mom/daughter combo accounting for 95% of the crowd noise in the first half. The purple preferred sections failed to stand and cheer even when we took the lead for good in the second half.

Yeah, it was dead, but it wasn't completely empty. Thankful to get our band and students back, at least, from here on out. They make the environment.
