I managed to connect with Isaiah Bruce, the 2020 Iowa commit, by text to talk about his offer and interest in NU. Here are some notes:
- NU reached out to him. They've been recruiting him for about two weeks. Bryan Payton, NU's director of recruiting communications, is his recruiter.
- He is being recruited as a DL. He said they haven't specified DE or DT, but my guess is DT, just based on his size.
- He said he has interest in NU. He will likely set up a visit but doesn't know when.
- He's interested in NU because of "it's a great academic school and they've redone everything and it seems pretty nice."
- He said it's going to be tough to beat Iowa. He committed in November and likes the coaching staff and the family feel around the program.
- Lena-Winslow is a Class 1A school (the smallest class in Illinois). There are less than 3K people in Lena. They have a Subway and a Casey's, but no McDonald's. He was on the team that won the 2017 state title.
