Van Zegeren to Miss Remainder of Season Due to Injury

Graduate student appeared in 25 games this season

EVANSTON, Ill. —
Northwestern graduate student center Joey van Zegeren will miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season due to a knee injury suffered in practice on Monday.

In his lone season with the Wildcats after spending the previous four years at Virginia Tech, van Zegeren appeared in 25 games with nine starts. He averaged 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game with 20 blocked shots while shooting 61.8 percent from the field.

Northwestern (18-11, 6-10 B1G) plays at Penn State at 8 p.m. Central time Thursday before concluding its regular season at home at 1 p.m. Sunday against Nebraska.
 
That's a bummer, feel sorry for the young man to have his last season end early. Not to mention the rehab ahead.

Got to feel for the guy. Hope it is just a sprain. Means Pardon needs to stop with the silly fouls.

Knee injury in practice on Monday

I wonder how things would have played out if Olah hadn't been hurt earlier / Pardon was still red shirting? I think it's a fair assumption that you don't burn a redshirt with only a few games left in the season (at least not when you're only fighting for an NIT slot), but then that would've made for an interesting end of the season. I guess maybe Skelly would be forced back over to the 5 spot?

I agree with you, I doubt they would have burned Dererk's shirt with 3 games left......
