On Waddle and Silvy today, Espn Cubs beat reporter Jesse Rogers reported that he ran into "the Collins boys" Chris and Doug at the spring game today in AZ. Said that they were very excited for next season, furthering the notion that this season was only the beginning. Jessie apparently asked whether the success and exposure this season has changed recruiting at all, to which CCC responded that some phone calls are being answered now that never would have before. They'll be at the Final Four in Phoenix this weekend. Maybe more media opportunities for CCC as the coach of the darlings of the dance? When does coach of the year get awarded?

Look, I said it was very small. :)

Does every coach attend the Final Four? I think the news here is that they are in Phoenix for the Final Four. Does that mean he is there to receive a certain award? Or do all the finalists get invited like the Heisman?

The Naismith Awards will be announced April 7 FWIW......

The NABC (National Assn of Basketball Coaches) holds its Convention in conjunction with the Final Four. A lot of coaches do attend for the Convention. Not all stay for the Games.

True and an AD and old friend of mine who has attended the convention, told me that it's a big meet and greet. Also many out of work coaches make a point of attending and hitting cocktail hours.

Yes I would imagine all the finalists get invited and attend. Especially if it's attached to a coaches convention as suggested below. I bet maybe they award it at the same time and place as the Naismith POTY award? Or is that the same thing as the Wooden Award now...

Interesting. On the coaches attending the Final Four subject, there was actually a discussion about that on one of the Sports Talk radio stations this week. As noted above, there is a lot of networking going on with regard to coaching positions. What I found interesting was the stated observation that much of the resume swapping was done right out in the open "on the streets" rather than in back rooms or hotel suites.

By the way, when I first read the OP's post I thought to myself, how nice that Chris could get away to Arizona for a nice vacation with his boys and that they had been named after himself and his dad. (Does Chris even have boys?)
