So, Lindsey is on the bench for a long while - mono is such an energy sucking illness... But I think there is hope -

Mac - Still solid, pretty well rested, shot coming around - time to jack his minutes
Brown - has gotten some real experience, can handle a bump up to 30 mpg
Law - another solid guy, will simply be called to score more consistently
Lumpkin - maybe, just maybe Sunday was example A that he can produce offensively
Pardon - looking good and healthy

Bench -
Ash - this is the X factor, need him to step it up
Skelly - I have quietly wondered if he gets first crack at Lumpkins spot next year despite Falzon and RI, here is his chance to audition
Benson - Solid so far, takes Skelly's minutes at the 5

Law has to up his game and I think he can. Lumpkin will be called on to run more as a 3 - and he began life as a 2 before morphing into a 2-5, so I think he can do it too. And Brown needs to graduate from green frosh into experienced guy with about 20 games under his belt.

I think these guys can weather this storm. Tap will be back. Lindsey should be cleared by the BTT, bt will take awhile to build his wind back. I also wonder, if RI or Falzon were medically cleared, would you bring one back this late under these conditions to try to lock up the Dance and forego the redshirt? Seems like Falzon had a minor procedure and might be serviceable??? No idea about RI. But it is an interesting thought. We burned Pardon's shirt late last year.

Niether will be ready. Falzon had that brace on for like two months. Fouls will be an issue as we really do not have any to spare without the two guys.

I agree, no cause for panic. It'll be tough, but if we know anything about Chris Collins coached teams it's that they will compete.

We will have a solid rotation of 7 players, with an 8th (Ash) needing to step up in key situations. Not ideal, but other teams have done fine for short stretches in a similar situation. With Tap returning hopefully in the next week, we just need to get by Purdue on Wednesday with this rotation.

Without Lindsey and Tap tomorrow, we're gonna need to play defense at another level to stay in the game. How about this starting lineup to counter Purdue's size and inside out game:

1- Mac
2- Law
3- Lumpkin
4- Skelly
5- Pardon

Brown is first off the bench for Lumpkin, Law shifts to 3. Benson subs in on the front line. Ash spells Mac.

With Law and Lumpkin on the wings, we could play some good perimeter defense and rebound outside in as we did against Indiana.

We give up ballhandling and scoring potential with this starting lineup. Puts a lot of pressure on Mac and Law to score while trying to crash the offensive glass against Purdue's bigs for putbacks. Lumpkin would need to have "one of those nights" and hit 2 or 3 from 3.

Thoughts?

Regardless, Brown, Benson and Ash are going to need to step up right now. Time to grow up quick! I believe you can do it. Be different!

I like this lineup v Purdue. Boy, it will be interesting to see if they go Skelly or Brown...

Oh wait, walkster, did I write this? Ok, enuf archive refresher for you tonight. Get some sleep. We have another season of fun ahead...

Ok. Wacky Bobby! I may have mistook you for FS on one of my many points about your posts. Let’s focus on another example which shows your dearth of basketball acumen. Remember when you said Isaac Haas was a better basketball player and NBA prospect than Caleb Swanigan. Let’s see if Isaac Haas is the National POY runner up, Big 10 POY, and NBA first round pick. Archive that one. Insert mic drop here.

You may be right, you may be wrong. We will know soon, 7 months, a year, soon. And archives will be right here to let one of us eat some more words.
