Walker named defensive POW in B1G

He gets both national honors and Big Ten honors, yet Dean Lowry is the coaching staff's selection. And from the peanut gallery my opinion is that Godwin might merit discussion...

Interesting question then, who played best on the defensive side:
Anthony Walker
Dean Lowry
Godwin Igwebuike

His major competition for it had to be Lowry. I was thinking Lowry would get it because his plays had such a major impact.

I really don't think picking a 'best' is necessary. I am so happy that we have these three studs on defense, plus many more .... van Hoose, Harris, Henry, Ifraedi just to name a few.

What's even better, from what I read, is that these guys probably don't get out of shape if another guy wins an honorary. They seem to really play as a team.

With a fumble recovery, 55-yard TD run and a block that knocked the snot out of Duke player on Vault's kickoff return, I certainly liked Long's effect on the game, although I realize he doesn't play D. I think Walker, if he stays healthy and keeps a level head, has the potential to be the best LB I've seen at NU, including his coach.

Godwin forced and recovered a fumble, mind you
And Lowery tipped and picked a pass and almost two.. There is merit to all three. In fact, the whole D deserves the award. But 19 tackles does stick out.
