Was Benson hurt?

Guessing there had to be a injury/illness reason, since he could not possibly have been less effective than Pardon and Skelly were tonight...

He was fine in warmups throwing down dunks and running around like normal.

Thought Skelly was a beast on the boards. Unfortunately, that was about the extent of it.

Did not see him play unless I missed it.
Illinois drives alot and Benson is almost exclusively used against teams that like to post up.
More problematic in my opinion was that we had to play a 1 guard offense most of the night due to some poor fouls by the youngster. Brown is still missing more shots than he should but thats simply because he is a freshman. At the end of the day, BMc was spent. He was like a fish floating on top of the water.
The reason for all of this was the poor choice in Vasser and the apparent lack of development of Ash.

I think Collins has done a helluva job but he isnt done building. Having lundsey, falzon, and Rap on the bench, and not getting anything out of Vassers scholarship would have knocked former NU teams out, but Collins has the team fighting and I think we still have a shot at the NCAAs. Your 70% seems about right.
Lindsey should be back for the BTT. We should be able to make a case then as well.

It's being reported that Lindsey could be back vs. Maryland.

I don't think it was so much that Brown was missing shots... it was more that he was making terrible decisions as to when to take them. He has been doing this all year, but especially last night he kept throwing himself into contact instead of pulling up or finding someone open... unfortunately as a freshman in the B1G you don't get those calls often. Thrust into the starting role it seemed to me he put too much pressure on himself, and then didn't execute well. Also played poorly on the defensive end, missed assignments and the combo of him + BMac hurts us on the D glass.

He'll be good later in his career, but he's not ready for 25-30 mpg yet, he's much better suited to shorter stretches off the bench. But, that said, we don't really have that luxury right now...

If NU gets at least one of the guards they're pursuing, then I'm thinking feel that Brown will bench guy while he's here.

Don't let walker hear that. If true, walker will have another big dose of open internet mouth insert foot shoved down his throat by yours truly. Brown is supposed to be great.

Personally, I think he is raw and demps 2.0. But I also don't think Demps would have been more than a bench player on a ccc team full of ccc recruits.

If Brown becomes a 7-8 minute per half, instant-offense guy off the bench, with Demps-like clutch shooting, then I'd happily apply the "great" moniker to him.
