All sixteen coaches,on average receive over two million a year! For what? Their will be at least ten surgeries per team,at least 160 surgeries. Another ten percent or more,of these players, will drop out of school,or transfer? The coaches all understand this, but go forward anyways. Are not, college football coaches,a bit like the news reporter covering gang shootings day in and day and then they and go back to their two million dollar Lincoln Park Condos. What say you?

Lay off the caffeine.

I know the whole big 10 has 14 teams while the the big 12 has 10 teams is confusing but where did you get 16.

Coaches get the money they do because they can negotiate it. In other words, the free market created a value. If you don't pay the top coaches 4+ million they'll be in the NFL so the schools decided it's worth it. Additionally, the difference between a school like Michigan winning 7 and 10 games is 10s of millions on donations you better get a CEO that can get the job done and of that's not Hoke for 3 million you hope it's harbaugh for 7 million.

Additionally, coaching is a high risk profession. No other job takes you from a high salary to unemployed in a year (maybe NFL player) like a college coach. I put together a coach carousel for a reason. Win 9 games every year at Nebraska... You're fired. Give another profession like that. So they demand to get the money where and when they can.

Like it or not... The top coaches are worth what they get.

Well, the free market when combined with indentured servitude, but who wants to split hairs...

Some of them might or might not be worth it. As far as high-risk, most of those guys will make more in a year than quite a few people in this country make in 40 years of hard work. I recognize their right to negotiate whatever salary they get, but they'll get little sympathy from this quarter about high risk.

Well said,PAwildcat! Matt Fitzpatrick,a Frosh golfer at NU last year has already made a million. The Wisconsin QB,just signed for 20 million a year! Plus the kids get free tuition. Still, let's call a spade,a spade! The majority of these kids are putting themselves at physical risk being "quasi seduced" by these coaches. Let's continue the dialogue as some good thoughts have already been shared by others on here.

Shakes, your 10, 14, 12, 10, 16 comparison is classic. Thanks for the afternoon chuckle.
