I just happened to read that anecdote in the NYT yesterday! It was in an article about one of the UConn players possibly getting food poisoning.

I saw that game as a member of the "Block N" section -- disbanded later that season when too many folks got overly enthusiastic and threw their cards high in the air. (I wasn't among them. Too afraid of being hid by the cascade of cardboard coming down.) The University, as I recall, wasn't about to tolerate such student behavior then. Now, such a celebration seems relatively benign.
