We got our 2020 QB

Welcome Aidan. Your film looks great! NU has been on a steady rise over the past decade. Things are really coming together the last three years. You couldn't be entering the program at a better time.

Go Cats!!

What is the consensus? Will Atkinson be our backup to HJo and then most likely be our starter when HJo graduates or goes pro?? How does our stable of qbs seem to be measuring up the next several years??

He just finished a monster season and is ranked as the #9 QB prospect (TOS) in the country. A great get by NU.

WOW. Have we ever gotten a commit for a class so early (non-family like Bryce Gallagher)? I remember some December commits but not November.

This is awesome news. Aidan will have every opportunity to play early. As a redshirt freshman if Hunter leaves after two years, as a sophomore if he stays for all three. And it goes without saying that this is a huge boon for getting other recruits on board for the 2020 class.

WELCOME!

Let's let him play his senior year of High School and sign his commitment letter before we slot him on the depth chart. He certainly has the pedigree to be a good one here at NU.

If Hunter stays for three years, in 2022, the depth chart as we know it now will be:

RS Senior: Jason Whittaker
RS Sophomore: Aidan Atkinson

If Hunter stays for two years, in 2021, the depth chart as we know it now will be:

RS Senior: Andrew Marty
RS Junior: Jason Whittaker
RS Freshman: Aidan Atkinson

Will be a healthy competition for sure. But this is a huge commitment and will solidify our QB room for years to come.

Chose NU over, among others, Akron. Whew!

Great early offer list, with Boise and South Carolina and the home state schools on the list.

This feels huge.

Good to have some more talent at QB. Lots of guys have been playing this year due to injuries. Young guys have been getting lots of chances.

So where does the #9 ranking come from? 247 ranks him 16, among pro-style QBs only.

His hudl tape:

He has a strong arm and is accurate, especially on deep balls.

Me likey.

That's a live arm and a pretty ball.

This said, I've never seen a QB highlight film where the QB didn't have 100% accuracy.

Not just completions, but completions in stride whether its a deep ball or a crossing route or an out route. I had to go over 4 minutes into the clip to find an example where the WR had to slow down even a little to catch the ball. Really impressive stuff!

He sure looks good on tape. Very much like this to kick off the class.

Way too early to speculate on this kind of stuff as others have said.

But realistically, our QB situation is "set" for the next 2-3 years: Hunter Johnson with Marty and Whittaker competing to be his backup (along with Green for his final year next year).

Everything else is going to be up in the air until we see how the Hunter Johnson era pans out...

With a season to play yet. Those frustrated with the overall level of NU recruiting take a rest.

Now let's get a top RB to play next to him.

Green is a solid backup. Let's get another Bowser or two!
