I always can be assured that we will lay an egg in a Big home game where we have a great crowd.

We usually play a safe, boring, respectable game ...and lose, although our boring play also doesn't make anyone want to return to see another NU game...ever.

Today we played our boring football just extremely poorly, the game plan was a joke and for the first time in the Fitz era...we quit at the start of the 4th qtr. The fans quit, the coaches put in Smith when we finally had the wind to our back...it was the worst game I have seen the Cats play in a long time.

The offensive play calling was horrible, the defense just can't tackle, the receivers can't create separation and a couple can't catch, HJ needs work but running against a great rushing defense is stupid. Fitz called 2 more STUPID timeouts that only let MSU go 2 for 2 on third and longs.

We were almost afraid to try to win.

We went for it on 4th down a few times(i like it), but the amazing, amazing OC had a gameplan of trying to run against 9 man fronts. We were afraid to let HJ throw often and possibly... develop. We put in Mcgowen to runback a kick at the end of the half...nope he may fumble so have him fair catch! Lees let almost every ball bounce on punts, we played our defense the few times they punted for fear of the trick plays, We refused to throw deep even though we did get a interference out of it the one time we did.

Now to the players...Vogel is so slow he can't even hold. The OL got beat almost every play. Holman dropped another first down early in the game that was right in his hands. Bowser is a solid back, but he really needs a lot of time to get going. Smith threw into quadruple coverage. Everyone misses some tackles, but Whillock, Hampton and Bergin miss a LOT of tackles. Our super backs aren't really helping in any facet. HJ does need a lot of work, but only the amazing coach Mick could make a 5 star player need a lot of work.

It is going to be a long, long year if the coaches think we can win without the QB making plays. If Johnson threw 40 times he might have thrown 4 interceptions and we lost by another touchdown or 2... but he also may develop to be the star I see him becoming.

The coaches spoon feeding him with safe passes everyone knows are coming... is ridiculous and because the defenses always play us tight...AREN'T SAFE! They have as much risk as deeper, possibly more productive patterns.

It was a total disaster in front of a lot of NU fans and big time recruits...again.
