If you are watching the cameras, you will notice that they put down sub-flooring this week. Here's my question - has any one seen if all of the seats / bleachers below the current concrete pour are removable? Its not in the plans NU submitted to the building commission but if you look at the 3D model that NU has up for seats, it appears the floor is modeled as aluminum beneath first rows of the seats / bleachers. I'm just curious if this is a situation like Wrigley where the seats behind 3rd base could be removed or if its just a materials decision.

Here's my guess.

If you look closely at the 3D model, it's pretty obvious the flooring in rows somewhere like 7, 8 or 9 and lower is different than the flooring in higher rows. I always assumed the lower rows were some type of retractable structure.

Is that removable? My guess is as bad as any other.

I'm glad I'm not the only nerd who obsesses over this kind of detail. I was also assuming the first ~8 rows would be retractable based on the 3D model. And the live shot pretty much confirms that, right? In other words, why wouldn't they pour concrete for only the top ~8 rows if they're going to use concrete for all of the rows?

I wonder if those rows of seating will be removable rather than retractable? How would seatback chairs be retractable? I could see the student sections be retractable bleacher style seats, but not the main seating sections along either sidelines.

And BTW, the seats are being installed today in the upper stands. You can clearly see them in View 2 and 3.Real theater seats, no more splinters in my butt!

I've seen retractable seating with chairbacks (some examples here). Now that I think of it, I believe Wintrust Arena has retractable seating with chairback for the first ~10 rows (Yes, appears so).
