was electric and deafening tonight. I have never been to a college game in any arena where you could feel it like that, and it proves what a great home court advantage we can have. Too bad it was our last two games there when it finally became obvious.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to set up an appointment with my audiologist.

What was the split between Purdue and NW fans? I heard the Purdue fans often on tv. If you've never heard it, come to a game at Purdue :)

I loved that every time the black garbed interlopers started the chant, "Boiler Up...." the NU student body would shout them down.

The student body and north shore NU community is into this....gotta keep it up, gotta keep the interest

The new arena is suppose to have 700 fewer seats. That may mean season sellouts.

WHAT? I CANT HEAR YOU!

That was no question the loudest it's ever been in Welsh-Ryan. Chelsea Dagger BEFORE the game was deafening, and it only got louder from there. Electric doesn't quite do it justice. Maybe nuclear would be better? I don't know.

Does anybody know if there will be any kind of busses or shuttles for students next season?
I don't know it definitively, but rest assured there will be. There's no way in the world they will not invest heavily to ensure as many students as possible will get to the games.

I don't recall if there was something similar when I was a student during the 82-83 renovation; we just took the L to Fullerton. Even if there wasn't, leadership was considerably less enlightened about athletics then, to put it mildly.

Gotta say my first game at welsh Ryan. I absolutely loved it atmosphere was outstanding. My only complaint is the loss and I was in the boiler section. Man I loved it so much loud electric great. Growing up a fan since I was little made it all the sweeter. I did make the mistake of wearing my gothic jersey completely forgetting purdues colors were black and gold.

Then you haven't been to the Palestra. Best venue in college BBall.

It was the venue I've always hoped it could be. I tried to take a step back and soak it in at times. It will be the first time I go back and watch a loss on my DVR. I want to see what it looked and sounded like. From the inside, it was crazy. I've been to a number of different venues around the country. It would be hard to do much better. Bonkers in there...too bad we could never quite get the lead back late in the 2nd half. They would have gotten a head start on some of the demolition work.

There were probably 60-80 alums, going back to Joe Ruklick's era. Maybe more now that I start to think of it. From more recent vintages, Goode, Rankin, Eschmeyer, Jennings, Jenkins, Duvancic, Vukusic, Seacat, Doyle, Nash, Coble, Moore, Tolic, Scott, Capocci, Curletti, Sobolewski, Pejlusic, Okrzesik, Fruendt, Day, Montgomery III, Ryan, Steger, Williams were all there. There was a gathering in the N Club before the game and they brought them to the court at halftime.

Also, for those wondering, they did a Welsh-Ryan top moments 1a and 1b. 1a was Demps raining 3s to beat Michigan in double OT two years ago. You know what 1b was.

This place was rocking today. Only other game that came close was NU beating NotreDame on St Patrick's day 25 years ago. Amped up crowds are fun

Was reading Biggie's comments postgame. To paraphrase, "Why are they renovating it? Seems just like Cameron Indoor right now...."

I'm glad the Purdue fans could help Welsh-Ryan somewhat loud for a game. I guess that's really loud for there. The Boiler Up chants really overpowered the arena. I was surprised the students didn't shout it down but it was just too much. It felt like Mackey Arena North today. Good tough road win with Northwestern playing their hardest.

Lol. Are you even a Purdue fan? When people troll like this, they are usually not even a fan of the team they troll for.

I'm so proud of our Cats. I just wish those darn Purdue fans weren't so much louder than us. We gave them a good ride but they are just too good for us Cats. I hope we get to beat up on the Illini in the BTT. On to DC!

You're confused Our fans were much more numerous and louder than the Purdue fans.

You do know that responding to trolls is what trolls troll for? Come on, guys.
Yeah guys don't feed these morons. So what if the Purdue fans were about as loud as the NU fans. It was the loudest it's ever been at Welsh-Ryan. Let's go make our run in the Big Ten Tourney now and keep this magical Cats run going!

It probably sounded that way if you were up high in the arena. Down in the 100 sections and on the court, the students dominated the noise, and any time a "Boiler up" chant snuck though, it was quickly shouted down.
