Amidst the sad news about Matt Harris, I haven't seen anyone mention Parker. To those in the know, how is he progressing?

Well Watkins moves into a starting role. McShepard the Hartage are the backups. So less good than those guys.

How do you know Hartage is ahead of Westphal in the CB rotation?

To the original poster, I always thought that Westphal would end up at safety. In HS he was a ballhawk, with good tackling skills and high football IQ but not necessarily great coverage skills. Give him some time, he just got back to playing football after 1.5 year recuperating from injury. I think he will be in the rotation next year.

Ha. The two deep implies a lot of things that are not so. It may be the case but I would not base it on the two deep that Fitz puts out.

Fair point. But the last couple have been pretty accurate. Unlike the one after the Ball State game where Queiro was still listed.......

It is probably one of those 18 month recovery times and you don't want to take chances. We have had some freak injuries over the years. I am sure most programs do but it sure seems we have had more than our share.

He had hip surgery. Have to feel that it is one of those 18 month recovery injuries. Not saying he isn't good, just not recovered enough yet.

I take Fitz and the two deep he posts at face value. Maybe he's trying to confuse Iowa, motivate Westphal, or reward Hartage by putting his name on a meaningless list he gives to the media, but I'm just gonna go the top 2 being the 2 starters, the next 2 being the backups, and everyone after that as being after that.

Sure. Adapt and adjust, right?
I don't even think it's that. Fitz has brought in 1 early that had loads of injuries and need lots of surgeries. Thought the number was 18. The other is coming in soon and has shoulder issue. Coincidence? Definitely not. Fitz wants high school kids to finish high school but if there's a medical reason to come early then that's more important.

If it was hip surgery, it was very likely a torn labrum. That can be a very long recovery where you aren't training for football until you have recovered range of motion, flexibility, and strength. This can take a long time. Labrum tears are not trifling injuries.

Jack my goodness I hope it's not that for Parker. Isn't that what Bo Jackson had?
