What a bunch of bull

says a lot when Michigan gets calls in a a game which is basically an NIT play in game and Michigan is not very good. you just figuring it out that the Big ten will do and give anything to Michigan. Also says , at this point in time, how Northwestern is still low on the pole when it comes to bball in the Big ten

Collins was spot on - dude travelled TWICE and they didn't call it.

Still, up 3 with under a minute to play in OT, you can't let a guy get that shot to tie it. Cats still have some growing to do.
Plenty of growing to do, but that was just a really good shot by Robinson. That's the benefit of being a really long guard with great form, you can shoot over anyone.

What's with you and all the chest-thumping? Do you not think NU fans realize where northwestern is on the big ten? NU basketball is like IU football, but not nearly as bad. Thanks though for blessing us with your great basketball insights.

I just hope, one day, NU can earn Sweet Sixteen rings.

(This is both a true statement, and a statement making fun of Hoosier sports, Clappy McBeltBuckle, and Damon Bailey, and all the cranky old people who believe that the solution to all problems is Robert Montgomery Knight, and who use all three names like Dickie V.)

Enjoy your first weekend exit, Hoooozh.

That play right there shows how much this team missed Vic. Law would have made that shot a lot harder - and would have made a ton of difference this past season.

Don't disagree...someone asked why Tap ended up on that rotation, which is a very good question.

Preach it Chris....eventually someone will listen. I'm tired of this bull.

I was stunned by Coach's remarks. I don't think he should have said what he did. McIntosh handled it much better in postgame interviews. At the same time, we really know how Coach feels and he identifies with US. He isn't a Dukie now; he's a Wildcat and I love his embrace of the underdog mentality. I think he is also batcrap crazy with his conspiracy theory, but it's the emotion that I love. Keep motivating our boys like that, Coach, and we'll see you in the tourney down the line.

On defense, Law is way, way better than Taphorn is, but Law was a net negative on offense, missing a ton of shots and turning over the ball. Let's not put too many unrealistic expectations on Law, okay? He's had multiple shoulder issues and he had an uneven frosh campaign. Let's be level headed about him. If he does great, we will be even more thrilled.

He missed a ton of shots in the first 2/3 of the season. I think he shot about 50% from 3-point range in the last 10 games or so. And he was really one of the only guys on the team that could hit 3 pointers coming off of a screen. Most of our guys understandably like to already be squared up when they catch the pass. An he's the best athlete on the team by far. Even if he doesn't expand his game to include driving to the basket (which he almost never did last year), I think he has very good chance to be a three and D guy who will grab 5 rebounds a game at the 2 or 3 and finish fast breaks. I think he can consistently provide 10 points a game next year. I agree that health is always going to be a concern but barring a reinjury, I think he is too talented and driven not to have a good year.

His last 11 games he was 18 for 33. Pretty damn good 3 point shooting in my book.

Huh? The refs miss a call a grammar school official could have made any you expect coach not to bring it up? What color is the sky in your world, anyway?

Hey, you want to bet that Law has a better season next year than Tap? Or better than any season that Tap has or will have? I can give you the same deal I gave Fitzphile, uh NJCat....

Sucker bet. Law is damn good. By the second half of next season he will be the second best NU player.

Hell, Lumpkin caught the travel and jumped off the bench with the signal. And it wasn't HIS job to notice it. Borderline calls when in heavy, furious action and with players in the way of a clear line of sight ... okay, that happens. But when all attention is focused on somebody that is hemmed in, going nowhere (legally) and you can see three steps and a hop from the upper reaches of the arena? How does that escape attention of the zebras?

I agree. It's not the reason we lost but I'm glad CCC gets mad and am fine with his decision to talk about it in the press conference.

The refs are human, it's a tough job, but ALL the ref was doing was looking for a foul. He obviously wasn't observing anything else. That's not making a human error, that's not doing your job at a very important time.

But, it was a great game.

I think this team would have done well in the NIT. Down the stretch they have been playing their best basketball of the year.

They do still have some growing up to do, but not on that play. They played great defense, and the guy just hit a great shot. You can't ask for more than that. A well played game on both sides of the ball, but it just didn't quite work out.

It doesn't matter "where Northwestern is in the Big Ten". All I ask is that the game is called fairly for both teams regardless of which one has more "history" in terms of championships than the other. No teams should be favored over others by the refs even if the league is trying to get one more team into the Big Dance.

I agree he could have handled the situation better, but the team still did get the game into overtime where they had a chance to win. They couldn't quite close things out, but that missed travel call was ancient history by that time. And no guarantees they would have made the shot to win the game in regulation time had they got the ball back on a traveling call.

He was getting better and better last year. By the end, he was not a negative on O. Have to think that this year he would have progressed further. It will be interesting to see where he is at the beginning of next year.

And if they do, it likely helps NU as have to think the NIT wants to have at least one BIG team. As it is, Mich trails IN by one at the half.

Vic Law is an explosive athlete. From the scrimmage that I saw Vic playing, he was trying to work on his dribble driving skills. It might lead to turnovers early on but Vic Law will be able to guard SFs and SGs a lot more effectively than the current players and grab rebounds. His issue in the first half of the season last year was that he was not going up strong and squaring his shoulders on his shot which he did in the second half. His shot had a good high release in the second half of the season. This year, Vic would have helped significantly on defense v. SFs and SGs like Peter Jok, Denzel Valentine, Zac Irvin, Troy Williams, Vince Edwards, Malcolm Hill, Rasheed Sulaimon, Bates-Diop, Loving, etc. Instead, we had to go with one dimensional and undersized players at forward who put more pressure on our guards and true freshman Falzon to contribute early. A more developed Falzon and Law at forward with McIntosh and SG Lindsey and Brown or Ash will improve our athleticism.

Hey, something I heard Bobby Knight say once....on defense, if a shooter likes a spot on the floor, you should beat hm to that spot and put your hands up.

For next year...
