Whatever happened to Turk anyways

You can always join his little merry band of asshats on his FB group. The bots there are running out of material.
I will disagree(I don't wear hats though) Turk loved NU football but he did not look at the program through rose tinted glasses. He saw problems and pointed them out offending the hierarchy of the board. Some of his concerns have come to pass and I miss his participation. I know his move to Florida may have also reduced his board activity . I do not think he was an NU grad but he supported the program financially and was a welcome face at many tailgates

That was the old Turk. New Turk is bitter and venomous toward the program. His glasses are tinted black. I don't have any problem with constructive criticism of the program, but Turk's act had descended into trolling and gratuitous pot shots. I regret his descent into resentment, because he once was a great fan, as you attest.

It's on FB. I cannot recall the exact name. Turk runs it and uses several aliases to regularly $hit on the program. I joined, saw what was going on, and left.
I searched Facebook for TurkNUFan and got a bunch of interesting Turkish recipes, a few Turkish guys looking for women, and a porn site called OnlyFans.

Turk was banned by FloridAlum a few years ago, so he started the Northwestern Wildcats Uncensored Facebook group that apparently has 1000 people in it, but is now private. I had joined initially before realizing that it was Turk and therefore trollish nonsense.

He went to the ends of the Earth to finally prove that the planet was flat and fell off. Hasn’t been seen since
I will never forget when he said he projected a laser beam across the Lake to Michigan which proved the lake was flat. That's when I stopped believing his take on Fitz. I believe Fitz may have done something that personally offended Turk.

He's still in the Northwestern Huddle FB group but hasn't posted anything for several years.

FloridAlum actually banned him?

The last time I remember interacting with Turk was when he caught COVID and went to the hospital and all the posters here wished him well.

So FloridAlum must have banned him after that. What on earth did he ban him for? For years, FloridAlum said there was no hard proof (IP address) that Turk posted under other handles such as wickerpark. Did Turk finally slip up? Or did FloridAlum just have enough of the nonsense after Turk's COVID scare?

They were apparently good friends for a while, at least

If I remember correctly - and it is very possible that I don’t - Fitz told Turk he couldn’t come to practices anymore because Turk spilled the beans on our very own Wildcat Report about one of Fitz’s super-duper secrets. Did that happen or am I imagining it?

That's quite a thing to hold such a grudge over.

Both could be true.

Turk started his own NU superfan website at some point. I still remember the photo of himself that he used on it. I wonder whether Turk started to consider himself a "journalist" entitled to special access to the program because of his website. I do remember hearing about Fitz being unhappy with something Turk disclosed online and thereafter cutting off his access. Turk has been doing nothing but trolling with vitriol ever since, and his "flat earth" nonsense on the Rant Board made clear that he had interest in nothing but trolling. Too bad, because he really was a good fan at one time. I remember sitting with him at a road game in about 2009 and liking him. By the time he got booted off the Rivals board, I was not sorry to see him go.

It was December 2021 when he got banned, seemed like his comments around Brandon Joseph entering the portal was the final straw?

Well, none of the messages in the Brandon Joseph thread seem obvious violations of the rules, but maybe FloridAlum deleted the offending posts, whatever they were.

He went to the ends of the Earth to finally prove that the planet was flat and fell off. Hasn’t been seen since
And let's not forget his infamous Fake by the Lake stance, among others. His grades of players after games were entertaining but laughable because half the time he didn't even know who was playing.

182 jersey… Classic Turk!

Way back around the RW era I thought the OL did cool stuff with his son. Forgot the specifics.

Whatever happened to FeliSilvestris? He completely vanished.

I know a lot of people butted heads with him, but I liked his passion even if he was the only person arguing one side of something. I hope he’s ok.

If there was ever a time for his Fitz blasting ways, this is the time.

I'm beginning to see his side of things.
Turk was the antidote to the rose colored crowd in here when I first joined. He went over the edge though by 2021, but to be honest one can't really blame him. What has transpired since the 2018 season has been downright whack, not to mention depressing.

How does moving to Florida impact your ability to be active on a message board? I know it's Magaland down there, but don't they have the internet there?

Driven away I suspect by the unrelenting personal attacks of the homers on this board, as were Turk and others. Respect to those who have stood steadfast in the face of this board bullying and fascism.

We don't have that many fans. I would think all should be welcomed, even if they aren't always blindly supporting the coaches or toeing the homer party line. That cheerleading dude for example - forgot his name.

The only regular poster I think deserved his exile was Puffcat. And that crazy drunk woman with the vile mouth (and her equally offensive husband, I think msnow) from the hoops board. These others should feel they have a place within our community of wildcat fans.

EC,

It seems to me that there is a healthy amount of disagreement on this board. But after 12 games followed by postmortems about how bad the team and the coaching looked, what more is there to say? We all knew after ‘19, ‘21 and ‘22 that the program was in trouble. Yet some people kept relentlessly piling on, forgetting in the process Mike Royko’s rule about not speaking ill of the deceased at his wake.

Yes, no one died. But if someone just eviscerates the program, and has nothing positive to say, are they true fans?

Prior to Turk being deep sized he did nothing but rip the program.

Well, that's why I'm saying this is the time for his Fitz blasting ways. As somebody who has in the past been accused of being the eternal optimist, I have to say that I've been ground down to the point that I need to criticize in the hopes that things can get fixed. I like what's happened on the defensive side of the ball. A lot. But, that's just getting us back to where we were, while for well over a decade, my bone has been with the moribund incompetent and embarrassing offense we have run. And listening to pompous homers defend it on the notion that it's somehow complementary to an elite defense (no, there is no rule that you have to have a shitty defense to field an elite defense, just as the last two years proved you can have shitty defenses and offenses at the same time) is maddening. There is no effing reason the OC deserves to keep his job, and there is no reason to hope that we will improve there without a change. Continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity - and yes, our offensive offense is driving me insane. So, I know how Turk feels finally.

Umm, no. Actually, Northwestern supported Turk financially.

Your revisionist take has a lot to be desired. Turk is no martyr, he was just another attention whore whose constant trolling about the Flat Earth and Fake by the Lake got under the skin of many people. If you can't tell the difference when people just get fed up with bullshit posting, too bad. Predictably Turk was a Covid denier until he caught it and nearly died. Let's not confuse foolishness with courage. Your cingulomania for knuckleheads is ... strange.

This thread is beginning to feel haunted by the ghost of Turk, although he is not by any means dead. Some of his ideas are, however..
