Where is Pierre Youngblood-Ary ?

We need all help we can get at the WR position.

The main problems with our WRs this year have been getting separation and consistently catching the ball. PYA isn't really going to help in either of those areas, particularly the latter.

I think the schemes have been poor as well although you have disagreed about that. Flooding zones with 3 wr isnt working nor does it spread the field. If it worked, then fine. Maybe the biggest problem is from michigan forward, teams are simply going to load up at los to stop jackson. Nothing against CT but we really dont have and wideouts that can catch the ball with consistency. Yesterday we had 3 pretty passes by thorson, 2 of which dropped by Christian and one by Carr. Never mind the one that mchugh touched but was taken off his chest for a pick 6.
At some year, we have to seriously consider addressing the issues at wr. Either coaching or find a way to keep vault on the field and to get anderson in there. If the problem is separation alone then get the speed guys involved. McHugh never makes the big plays.

We have to get some type of deep or down the field threat. I was asking about him because we have seen everyone else. Give him a chance. He can't be worse.

either can Vault. This is on McCall. I have no idea why Vault is on the bench for more plays than he is on the field. With awful wr why doesnt mccall keep vault in

If he couldn't get playing time with last year's WR play and he can't break into the rotation this year, then why did coaches decide to let him come back for his fifth year? If you are asked to come back for a 5th year as a scholarship player, I think you need to be good enough to make an impact on the field.

He's athletic enough that one could dream on his contributing in some way, even on special teams. Plus I don't think we had any high-profile recruits kicking the door toward the end of the class of 2015.

What worries me a little bit is that a few of our freshman WR's are red shirting with plenty of help needed. Obviously can't speak to each individual circumstance, but I would think that they would be out there if the talent was there.

What about the legacy player that they gave a scholarship to from Miami U.? Kidd? He's a receiver and a senior, right?

If we are pinning our hopes on a fifth-year senior walk-on who had previously announced his "retirement" from college football before transferring to NU, we are in dire straits indeed. I don't think we are quite at that point, but we definitely have to do something to shake up that group.

Would be cool if we could find a way to get the most athletic player on the field. (That is, let's get Vault in the slot. A lot.)

We can throw downfield because we would just be throwing the ball to the DB who would stick to the WR like glue and then make a more athletic play and take the ball. Our WRs used to be a plus. Now, they drag the entire offense down because our passing game makes us one dimensional.

Bingo. Another wasted year of recruiting and development. Unless the next Randy Moss stumbles into NU by accident, I don't see this changing until Fitz grows up and admits that Springer is no Kevin Johns and goes out and gets someone the WRs can look up to and actually learn from and get better because of

Basically same problem the past 2-3 years; if PYA couldn't break into the rotation esp. after all the injuries at the position last year, wasn't going to do so this yr.

Also, last season, there was the issue of receivers running routes sloppily or even running incorrect routes (I'm assuming there is some improvement in that respect due to the position group paying attention to that in spring ball and camp, but then again, one never knows).

Even with all the issues last season, the WRs were the most productive during the stretch of the 4th Q of the UM game, ND and PU - and that has to do w/ McCall finally moving the pocket and allowing Siemian to use his legs to evade the pass rush and buying more time for receivers to get open.

What's the point of having a dual-threat QB if you're just going to have him be stationary in the pocket? (That's fine if the 'Cats are winning the battle up front.)

PSU fans have the exact same complaints about their OC.

That's what opponents have been doing for the past 2 seasons.

Again, it's no coincidence that both JJ and Green got their longest runs when McCall finally started to move Siemian around and hence, had to take more into account the passing game w/ a mobile QB, which opened up space for the run game.
