I'm more of a twenty watt bulb than a luminary, but count me in.

I'll be there; anybody else?
Only you, Dr. Phil . . . only you.Always good to go to my Verizon Center and pay the cell phone bill in person. I have lots of questions about our data usage this time.
Not sure if sarcasm but it is where the Wizards play.I'm one of those solar backyard lights that never works...
By the way, what is the Verizon Center? I have no idea and am simply not willing to look it up because then all my ads will be for for Verizon stuff until I look up something else like 4x4 tires or whatever.

Probably not (for the usual reasons), though the 9pm starts do make it within the realm of possibility, more likely on Friday (if they win first round). Are tickets easy to obtain? Would be cool if I could experience my first bowl game and first BTT game in a 3-month span,,,
For out of towners, there are numerous restaurants and pubs near the Verizon Center
Columbus, I plan on doing plenty of walking. Is this H Street corridor and/or Shaw neighborhood within long walking distance of the Verizon Center? And if so, are there any particular places you'd recommend in these areas?I'll add a couple of other places.
Jackpot is a cool basement bar across the street. RFD is usually packed, but it's a great beer spot. Zatanya (around the corner) is an excellent restaurant.
There's a also a bunch of great places on H St. corridor these days and it's only a short cab/uber from verizon. Same goes for the Shaw neighborhood. Plenty of options in DC.

It is amazing about the transformation of some neighborhoods in DC. The fact that you mention Shaw is almost unbelievable considering that it was a shooting gallery in the 70's
The "Chop House" next to The Verizon Center should be a must for Iowa fans. It has a huge "Pork Chop" that when coupled with onion soup is a memorable meal
Tony Cheng's in Chinatown is a huge restaurant with traditional Chinese dishes on one floor and a Mongolian grill on another. You can eat till the cows come home at the grill -using another Iowa reference
If you get to DC, try Yuengling on tap. It is America's oldest beer and has been resurgent on the East Coast. If you go to Fado, try Smithwick's on tap. The bottled version of Smithwick's does not do justice to the original draught style
The Greene Turtle is on the first floor of the Verizon Center-it is a typical bar with multiple brews but will be wall to wall with people. I only mention it because , a friend started the chain, that you now see in malls and airports

Given the nature of your responses, Columbus, I fear I'm disappointing you when I tell you that I don't drink - I'm all about the food, and there's almost nothing I don't like (or wouldn't try). Packing light for the trip, so "casual" will pretty much be the order of the day. Anything within two miles or so of the Verizon Center would be worth a look, I'd say. You've already given me more places than I'll have a chance to visit, and I appreciate the info.The changes to Shaw have been pretty swift too. Really just in the past four five years with the restaurant bar scene taking off in 2014.

LOL! I bought 6 solar yard lights from Dollar General for $1 a piece. Buying anything electronic from Dollar General store is downright comical, and for a buck apiece, what did I have to lose? Two went dead in one day, two more died after 3 days, the last two didn't last more than a week. After they died, I mowed one with the lawnmower and stepped on two others.

Columbus;
Terrific call on Sundevich; would you believe I'm actually posting from there as we speak? What floored me, though, was when I told the guy at the counter that ColumbusCatFan sent me . . . he threw in a bag of chips on the house. Who knew you had such sway out here?
