I would remove Shannon as I don't classify him as a guard in the same sense as these other players and replace him with OSU's Bruce Thornton, but I voted Walker over Boo.

Is Terrance Shannon still technically in the Big Ten?

Young definitely carried his team in scoring. I thought a lot of his late scores were partly assisted by the Cats avoiding the whistle happy refs (and even then he get to the line for 11). I also thought Boo tried to force things a few times, especially in the first half, and it didn't work out.

I find I can't be objective.

I prefer Boo this year to other guards because he seems to bring great value to all aspects of the game, and that includes getting guys involved, defense, and getting his guys and the crowd fired up.

I am completely biased, but I would choose Boo without hesitation. He is working on 5 years of B1G basketball, which speaks for his experience and savvy. One of Boo's standout qualities is his shiftiness and exceptional court vision, which is arguably on par with, if not better than, any other player in his position. He has a remarkable ability to draw fouls consistently, making him a reliable offensive asset. Additionally, Boo excels as a defender, particularly in passing lanes, showcasing his defensive development. When it comes to scoring, Boo is a valuable asset able to score at every single level. What sets him apart, in my opinion, is his exceptional ball-handling skills and decision making, rarely ever turning the ball over.

While there may be others on this list who score more, like Young, it is important to consider the talent surrounding the guards. This can give us insight into whether the guard is required to focus more on facilitating plays or scoring. In the case of Buie, I believe he could achieve similar numbers to Young if he was playing for Maryland, and I believe Young's assists and turnovers would improve at NU. Another standout player is Walker, who possesses remarkable quickness and expertise in slashing through defenses which could get some looks at the next level as a late 2nd Rounder or UDFA. However, I firmly believe that as a college player Buie surpasses his peers in terms of all-round abilities.

I’m not sure that there is a ton of talent around Young. Scott is pretty crafty (for a 30 year old) and Reese can do some things, but MD is not flush with scorers.

Hence why he focuses on scoring. His teammates don’t do that well. It was more a positive comment on NU’s talent and that Buie can spread the ball around to people who can actually score.

They are going by the rules and dont blame them for getting another degree and some $$$$.

It will be interesting once the Covid rule goes away

Boo Buie all day and twice on Sunday. He can cement his legacy by not only leading us back to the tournament but taking us on a deep run. I’m looking forward to it.
