We are a big basketball team this year, and other teams are going to have to hard time shooting over the zone. Our shortest guy is Tre, and otherwise everyone else is big. (or how Coach Collins curiously says it -- "plus sized.") It protects our bigs from fouls, it allows us to collapse around highly skilled big men that we will have to face in league play, few other teams play zone so prepping for it is going to be annoying/time consuming for other teams.
The only clear knock on it is that it is hard to rebound out of it. However, we are bigger/stronger this year. It should be fine.
Duke could play man to man all the time because they recruit the best athletes in the country. We need a more thoughtful strategic advantage.
Also, didn't it just work last year when we were desperate to stay in games? While we are definitely better, we still aren't as athletic as the other teams in the league.
