Northwestern dropped its first game of the season to Mississippi State, 66-57. Here are our takeaways from the game with some brief postgame comments from Chris Collins.

Did not realize Hubbard was a freshman. Pretty amazing performance by him. Would have been nice to have had Chase to try and shut him down. Oh well, on to the next one. Tough to feel too bad after a performance like the one Hubbard gave.

MSU lost, at home, to 1-6 Southern University today, 60-59. Hubbard shot 4-14 and was leading scorer with 14. Southern has played TCU, beat UNLV, Illinois and Marquette for paycheck games. MSU obviously slept on the Jaguars.

So when NU is ranked tomorrow, they'll be behind a team they beat but ahead of the team that beat them. I'm fine with that.
