I am just curious about when winter quarter exams will be and if that would affect our play/players. I remember last year that the team decided not to play in the tertiary lower tourneys because they had to take their winter Q exams. Since most of the teams in both the ncaa tourney and nit probably don't have to intensely study for finals in March like NU- would that put us at a disadvantage? It may be argued that the football team laid two big eggs before classes started last fall (WMU and ISU) and played better when they had classes to go to. Did classwork help the players focus and concentrate on their play on the field? Would the bb players take their exams after they play their final games of this season? Is this uncharted waters for NU basketball?

Finals week is March 13-18. So yes, the NCAA (and NIT) occur during finals.

Show me a school that doesn't have major exams before spring break (during the tournament). This is isn't an NU-only issue.

Well, here's one. Wake Forest has spring break from March 4 to 12, so their players have no distractions during the ACC Tournament and the first week of post-season play......

Ohio State. Their athletes don't go to class.

(This may be a slight exaggeration)

OK, your week one point is well taken. I'm sure we can find several other exceptions.

However between the small sample of Gonzaga, Villanova and Kansas as well as Wisconsin, Purdue and Maryland, only Villanova doesnt have their spring break the weeks of the 13th or the 19th.

Exams unfortunately generally go with the territory.
