There's a good sports illustrated article (am I the only person who reads SI? Am I the only under 40?) about Stave in the current edition, which has either Serena or the Cubs on the cover.
A few things that come out of it:
- The yips came after he had lost the starting job. Apparently the mental strain related to that failure. I thought the yips had come first.
- The articles not so kind to former coach Gary Anderson. It sure insinuates that McAvoy was his guy, period, regardless of camp performance. McAvoy is a JuCo transfer; you'll recall that Anderson complained of the difficulty of getting in JuCo kids and academic risks when he left.
-There was no 'cure'. He started by throwing long distances and when nobody was around. Gradually he for better.
- I forgot Stave was a walk-on. He was.
- gosh, it was nice to read about thewe picks against Northwestern.
Alabama has a lot of questions, but I they'll provably destroy Wisconsin next week, though it won't be Stave's fault.
