Women Crushed

That game suggests the worst-case scenario for the season is very much in play. It's a tough opener for a team losing its best player by far on both ends. But even though Coach Joe might have as much potential depth as he's had since he got to Evanston, there's no clear difference-maker on either end. It was particularly discouraging that Mel Daley only played 5 minutes.

A lot of time left to figure it out, and the conference schedule is reasonably favorable. But in the first game of the post-Veronica era, the point guards had 10 turnovers and 1 steal. Gotta get better production than that!

Just squashed by Oregon. They scored 100!
I was there in the stands along with about 8 other NU fans in a crowd of 5600. It started out bad and never got better. Team looked lost and unprepared for the speed of the game out of the gate. They loosened up in the 2nd quarter and made some shots but then the turnovers piled up. Seems like it’s going to take some time to figure out an identity. Walsh looks like the best offensive option by far.

That said, Oregon is very good, probably underranked at 20. They have a couple of good transfers and 3 standout freshmen who combined for 51 points and all look like the real deal. Pac-12 is super deep and talented in womens hoops.
