After getting dominated by a hot Harvard team at home a week and a half ago, the Lady 'Cats won at Loyola in a slight upset and at home against Cornell. Despite continuing to be terrible at shooting 3s, they improved their offensive efficiency by significantly cutting down on turning the ball over and hitting the offensive glass the past two games.

The game against Loyola swung on a 17-2 run early in the 2nd half, and Taylor Williams was the MVP, with 22 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 1 block! A big game for Grace Sullivan too, with 15 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Caileigh Walsh continues to round back into form off the bench with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Against Cornell, the 'Cats steadily built up to a 15 point lead, though had to withstand a 22-10 run by Cornell in the 2nd half before holding them scoreless for the final 5:40(!) of the game. Kyla Jones had a very efficient 15 points on 10 shots, along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists against no turnovers. Grace Sullivan had another big game leading all scorers with 22 points, along with 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Caroline Lau had a wild statline, with 0 points on 0-7 shooting, but had 12(!) assists against only 1 turnover, plus 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.

Next up on Wednesday is a DePaul team that has played a brutal schedule so far and gotten rocked by it, Torvik has it as a 1-point 'Cats win. DePaul will have the best player on the court in Jorie Allen, but the rest of the team does not match up to her quality. Hoping the 'Cats can pull out a win before the first conference game of the year on Sunday.

The ladies pulled out a win over DePaul, though they certainly made everyone sweat in the 4th quarter. With 48 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, the 'Cats led 58-36. They then proceeded to give up a 20-2 run over the next 9 minutes, going 1-9 with 6 turnovers in 15 possessions, before holding DePaul scoreless for the final 1:42 while Caileigh Walsh made 4-4 FTs to close out the game. They didn't make an actual shot for the last 13:34 of the game(!).

Prior to that, though, the 'Cats opened up their huge lead thanks to a 21-4 run over 7 minutes spanning the 1st and 2nd quarters, where they went 9-12 (3-5 from 3) with 2 turnovers on 13 possessions.

Caroline Lau had another astounding statline, with 4 points on 1-6 shooting, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 turnovers, 3 steals and 1 block. Truly she contains multitudes. Walsh had 14 points on 3-6 shooting, going 7-7 from the line, along with 4 boards, 2 steals, 1 block, but 3 turnovers. Grace Sullivan also had a big game, with 13 points on 6-11 shooting but 5 offensive boards out of 8 total.

Unfortunately, good news for the team is unlikely to be in high supply moving forward, as conference play starts Sunday at Michigan, where the Wolverines have just dominated every team they've played so far with the exception of a 6-point loss on opening night to defending national champs South Carolina. This one could get ugly...
