Everyone has pointed out the parallels between Stanford/Shaw and NU/Fitz so I won't rehash it here.

We all agree that Fitz loves Northwestern much like Shaw loves his alma mater. Would Fitz ever do the same thing and resign? If we have another 1 or 2 win season next year would he walk away and let someone else take the reins? Does he have the same level of self awareness and ability to be vocally self critical that perhaps a new voice is needed? The biggest difference I see is that Stanford has a much longer history of success that predated Shaw (e.g., John Elway) so Shaw had a "responsibility" to the people before him not to run the institution to the ground.

While NU's modern day success really started with Fitz so he may feel a even more of a personal responsibility to see it through. It doesn't seem to be in Fitz's nature to "quit" but from what I heard from the media they were shocked about Shaw leaving. Fitz has a (well-earned) ego, but that cuts both ways. If the losing streak hits an absurd number like 15, 16, 17 games, would he walk away to prevent him completely tarnishing his legacy and leave before fans call for his ouster?
