I was wondering ever since the Duke game what Wright's fate would be, and questioning why he never saw the field. Didn't even know if he was still on the team.

Story in the Daily that ran before the Ill game gives the answer. (My bad if this was posted earlier and I missed it.) He comes across as a total class act.

Bates was one of several ex QBs (he was QB in HS I believe) that were big for us as WRs

While true, almost all of those guys made the transition from QB to WR before setting foot on campus. Exceptions would be Andrew Brewer and Kain Colter (kind of).

Before? If they played QB through HS, is it before or during? And there were a couple that did not go as well. Recall a QB that tried to go to TE.

Randy Walker staff felt best athletes out of HS were RBs and QBs and so they would look to those guys to fill other positions

As in they were high school QBs recruited to NU with the express intent of becoming WRs.

I am excited though about the possibilities with Wright switching to WR. He’s listed at 6’4” and seems to run well based on prior film. No idea what his speed and jumping stats are but since he’s already transferred here, anything he will contribute is a bonus as opposed to sitting on the QB bench.

Unsure if any of his long stride straight line speed will remotely translate to running any routes or catching the ball, but we’ll see. He’s athletic.

The key is whether you can catch a ball when either you are about to be blasted or after being blasted.
