Crew Cut,,, Kirk Douglas chin. walking into the wind with chest thrust out.......loyal, stubborn. Seems to be the two-edged sword of Fitz. But for a long period of time the trajectory was generally up......this last 4 years we have started down hill...What seems to have changed ? I think when he had older , more experienced coaches and kind of acknowledged (or someone like Phillips suggested) that he needed experience to balance his youth and inexperience Fitz was willing to listen , collaborate change, defer. Now he has coaches he has brought in, younger, less experienced and he is at the top of the decision making process with coaches beholding to him. So maybe what were successful coaching staff dynamics have changed. Fitz at heart is a pound it up the middle,,tackle downhill guy. Bajakian comes in as kind of a up the middle , pound it coach . O"Neil supposedly changing to a hybrid. Bajakian needs Tight Ends...O'Neil needs safety/lb hybrids. We brought in a young new corners back coach who somehow has escaped the wrath of fans.
Conclusion is that Fitz by himself is not adaptable, new coaching hires makes him less so. New coaches did not have a roster built for the changes. Having said that ..Does Fitz not have enough confidence in himself to hire new, experienced coaches or is he just that loyal to past NU guys and friends and knows it will be cushy?
So to me there are two crucial questions. 1. Does the lack of a B10 roster make the examination of the coaching staff moot.(then that leaves the bag of dog doo on the steps of the recruiting doorstep). 2. Does getting new coaches (if Fitz stays) make any difference if the dynamics remain the same?
